View Full Version : Do Blake Griffin's current card values suffer from being so high in the past?

I think Blake is playing out of his mind right now, but his cards were so high a couple years ago that no matter how his career pans out, they will probably never reach those levels again.

Your thoughts?

There will only one wave of spike on every player. Unless were talking about sets or low numbered. But yes no chance to peak his rc autos again

agreed First Ring and First MVP will spike his value...won't happen this year (at least the MVP part).

The hobby is fickle that's why collector's should be wary of buying cards out of the gate. Generally waiting 3 years after a release you'll find prices settle down, and even those hot players who may surge more, you have to remember the odds, so if 1:20 increase and 19:20 slide and decline, and you invested in all of them at their peak, you may be better off not buying stuff you'll regret in 3 years and paying for that 1 player you regretted not buying into and are now paying more for.

I think Blake Griffin is a great buy for right now based on his performance and popularity. I think there's still upside on his cards as he's young and exciting of a player.

He could be the next Shawn Kemp 'tho, so be wary on any longterm investing or overpaying based on speculation to build some sort of cardboard 401k retirement fund.

I think the next time his card value gets skyrocket again will be the time he gets MVP. But even with that title, it still can't reach those unbelievable price again. I consider those price in the pass are too hyperbeast

If Clippers go to the Finals, or at least deep in playoffs, look for his stuff to go up again.
But his real high end stuff never really dropped that much. I remember selling 4 of his NT RPA when it started to go up for like $400, 600, $800. And been trying to get at least one back, still haven't seen any go less than $1500 yet, but of course its down since when they were selling for like $2500+.

At his highest point his rPA /99s were 4k.

Absolutely.

Kyrie is going to go through the same problem.

People are scared to invest too much into Blake because his levels were so high and a lot of people "lost" money if they didn't get on the train early on. It's artifically pushed them lower to the point where people don't really know where he'll end up.

It's the same with people that were paying $2,500 for Kyrie NT's - it's dropped down to a $1K card or whatever and people "lost" enough that it's hard to push it back up for fear of losing again.

Ok, expert here!

I went all in on BG after his first season was lost to injury and I bought some insane RPAs including his NT RPA /25 and /5.

He was so explosive and so hot when he came out his prices followed and yes I believe he had gotten so high that even with his great play now it would take an MVP year or Title where he was the leader over CP3 to ever see anything close.
