If it says 9.5 on the slab it "must be" a 9.5
From the right angle Im sure it is a 9.5.......

If you think that's bad just wait for when Beckett's grade to auction service is in full effect. You will see horrible 9.5 and 10's all the time. It only benefits them $$$$$$ to grade more cards with higher grades they normally wouldn't deserve. The days of getting a BGS 10 maybe around 1-3% of the time are gone. This is their own description for 9.5:
Gem Mint 9.5
Centering: 50/50 one way, 55/45 the other on front. 60/40 or better on back Corners: Mint to the naked eye, but slight imperfections allowed under magnification. Edges: Virtually Mint to the naked eye. A speck of wear is allowed under intense scrutiny. Surface: A few extremely minor print spots, detectable only under intense scrutiny. Deep color, devoid of registration or focus imperfections. Perfect gloss, devoid of scratches and metallic print lines
So if that's 55/45, then it qualifies.
This is what I HATE about grading services: half grades. It's either a 10, or it's a 9. This 9.5 crap is for the birds. So on a 10 point scale you can have 20 potential grades? Whatever. Reason #57 why I don't buy BGS cards...

What is Beckett's grade to auction service? When will it be implemented? Never heard of this before?

This is spot on...they hand out 9.5's like candy. Why they still bring a premium I have no idea and it seems everyone's submissions come back with BGS 10's now. There's no difference in most BGS 9.5's and 10's except for that graders mood that day. This is why I don't grade.....I guess I obviously don't like free money.

I noticed in many cases alot of the 10/10's have an autograph that is more "picturesque" for lack of a better word. That should have nothing to do with the 4 sub-grades but I am almost certain that it is something that is considered during the grading process when it is borderline for 9.5 vs 10 overall. Its kind of ridiculous because a 10 should be perfect without any flaw if your going to call it pristine. Also 9.5/10 gem cards that have a 9 subgrade are not really gem in my opinion, which is why I would not grade my PC cards in the first place unless I were certain they were flawless.
