Had the day off from work yesterday and decided to look at some of my collection out of boredom and for some reason, my Jordan RC started to bother me a tad. I know PSA 8's are tough to get nearly perfectly centered (without paying a huge premium) but I started to seriously contemplate upgrading to a 9, either BGS or PSA. Am I being silly or would the L/R centering on this bother you guys.. I think the card is also a little jiggly in the holder and might be a tad crooked in this pic lol

That very good centering for an 8. I'm a centering nut and get what you're saying, it is L/R for sure. I personally would want one a little better centered but as far as 8's go, that is once of the nicer ones I've seen.

To me, the top to bottom and left to right centering is slightly off. Edges and corners look fantastic. I suppose the surface is clean, I'd leave it alone...and I've cracked a many a PSA slabs out of my own PC....

I've actually been looking for an 8. If you're looking to trade I have a Damian Lillard Select Gold Prizm BGS 9.5

I'm also OCD on centering. When looking or a Jordan rc I couldn't stand how off centered some are no matter the grade. Granted my budget was low and I was looking in the lower grades but I much prefer this one then even say a bgs 7 with poor centering.

Can't beat that centering grade! Darn corners of what could have been.

Murrke, I couldn't agree with you more. Centering is the most important aspect of a card IMO. That is a great looking 5. Would much prefer that over a 7 that has 7 centering.

That's also the wildcard, the corners and edges are 9's to me.. if centering was a tad better, this card would not look out of place in a 9 holder. The reverse is clean with centering almost dead on with one small print dot

I have an 8.5 with 9 centering and always used to think about upgrading. I came to my senses and realized 1. the card looks great to my eye and 2. Its PC. Do you really care about that small upgrade and what some TPG though on grading day? Its a touch OC but is it worth paying the difference for one that is 2 millimeters better in one direction?

The color and corners on that card look great, I wouldn't worry about the centering.

Thanks. That's what initially drew me to the card. Centering is the first thing that hits the eye followed by corners/surface. Thanks everyone.. Back to the safe it goes :)!

I'd take a card with sharp corners and clean edges that is OC before I'd take one with bad corners. A card with bad centering is just a printing defect. A card with bad corners was damaged after it was printed.
To the OP, that's a great looking 8. I'd keep it. No need to pay a giant premium for a 9.

To me that's the whole point.
The card started off with a printing defect that makes it less appealing.
Maybe that's just my opinion but I can understand the other way I guess.

I would say that the Fleer 1986-87 set holds a higher standard in peoples hearts and most important sub grade is centering...
Like no other set, it's the only set that needs to be centered for me to want the card...
I'm down to needing less than 30 cards to complete the set in BGS 9.5 with ALL the key rookies already in my collection I have been trying to replace them along the way with 9.5 minimum for centering....
I have 2 MJ's one with premium subs!

I posted a pic of it once before search hegotgame15 in google images it should come up, I don't have it in my bucket right now....
Will show off when it's complete!
Only taken just over a year to get what I have, thought it would be much harder than it was....
And of course I have the same OCD about centering...lol
