You've just got to be kidding me about this last 30 days or so of play.
There's no manager in the league that would've thrown Gallardo back out there with his pitch count and with his spot leading of the top of the inning.
The pitching staff is still pretty fine compared to most teams in the league. The offense on the other hand needs some retooling. Can't have six guys that'll just hack away first pitch and ground out like 80% of the time.
Melvin should stay, 100% on that. RR shouldn't be fired but should be on the hot seat to start next season. Bruce Seid (rest in peace) should've been fired before this season with the first round picks that were wasted since 2009. Success stories like Gennett, Fiers, Davis, Nelson are results of area scouts and the minor league development.
For an attempt at positiveity, Brewers win the next two and then win the series in Cincy, along with the Pirates losing 3 of 4 in Atlanta (Pirates have bad road record and Braves good home record) and it's Brewers 1 GB with three games to go.
So you want the same old same old? Any team with Melvin running it will never contend. This team at best will be a .500 team with Melvin and RR at the helm.

I've learned by reading your post you know very little about baseball. The Brewers are a good team they just need to learn how to get over that hump. They have a good core that needs a little fine tuning. Seid was terrible at drafting and I agree he should have been fired years ago. Melvin is one of the better G'S in baseball and Ron is a great coach. If you fire Doug and Ron then you start over from ground level. If this happens again next year then both of their jobs are in jeopardy but for now they will be here next year.

I totally agree with yourself and brewcrew8 - I hate reading the garbage that many fans spew out once things turn sour. Sure, the last month or so has been horrific but the same can be said for Oakland who pushed a lot more chips into the middle than the Brewers did. Melvin does a great job imo - Roenicke not so much but I still think he deserves another go next year. I see people slating K-Rod, and I may not be a fan either, but what realistic alternative did the 'fire DM/RR' crowd think we should have gone with.
A lot of respected commentators suggested that the Brewers would fade back into irrelevance after the 'Prince window' closed, yet they've remained competitive, although Attanasio clearly deserves some of the credit there, as I'm certain that he was solely responsible for adding Lohse, and Garza to a lesser extent. No reason why we can't make a run at winning 85 games next year too!

The next couple years will test Doug and Ron to the max. The cubs will be spending a lot of money with Theo and Jed at the helm. The NL central will become more competitive in those years.

I know very little? Whatever. You are are a typical homer that refuses to see this is NOT a good team. This is a at best .500 team that does not have a prayer of being a serious contender. They played way over their heads and now we are seeing the real talent or lack there of on the team. Blow this team up rebuild around Gomez and Luc. Only players I would not trade right now.

Says the guy who wants to just start firing people. Like i said you only post when you have something negative to say. Now go watch your Packers and complain when they lose a game. You're a negative fan. Call me a Homer all you want, I'm not a fair weather fan.

This IS a good team:
I'll say it again, the only two reasons they will likely miss the playoffs is:
1. Lack of damage control, 1-11 and 1-13 stretches can't happen.
2. They can't beat the Cardinals
I see RR as a problem for not being able to get his team motivated during the bad stretches but I also see it as a lack of leadership on this team (other than Lucroy). I also think RR doesn't stress accountability with his players. However he is still a good manager in many ways and should get another chance.
Also packman80 if you recall this team had the expectations coming into the year of being at best a .500 team, so this shouldn't be shocking.

Who was running the team when the Brewers came within two games of their 2nd World Series appearance?

I'd rather listen to a typical homer than your negativity. Also, you might be in for a shock when the Brewers start shopping Gomez after next year because they won't be able to extend him, unless someone takes Braun (no chance!) in the meantime. You could always go root for the Cubs or something - they should be good soon.

How appropiate that the Brewers season ends due to another bonehead play, this time by Carlos Gomez. How the heck do you get caught between 2nd and 3rd in that situation? Totally embarassing month for the Brewers here. Once again this season they show why they are the Brewers and the Cardinals show why they are the Cardinals. Cardinals play smart and fundamental baseball and do not choke, Brewers go on long losing streaks and made some of the dumbest errors you can imagine. Pathetic. Time to look forward to next year I guess...

Joe shared an interesting stat on the radio the other night. In the month of September, the three best bullpens in MLB were 1 St Louis, 2 Pittsburgh, 3 Milwaukee
2 & 3 changed places in those rankings right about the same time they changed places in the standings

All 3 of the teams are good ball clubs. The Reds are having an off season and i dont expect that to continue next year plus the Cubs pitching staff is showing life along with some of their position players. Next year will be interesting.

Wow, Mark A sounds ticked.
He's gotta be one of the most competitive owners in the league.

I keep telling my co-workers that the same late season collapse in Boston cost the beloved curse ending Theo and Francona their jobs, Francona was 8-0 in World Series games and was axed, what has Roenecke done that is even a tenth as impressive as that?

I hope Roenicke is back for another season. Just because a new manager means Melvin will get another 3-4 years in MKE to see if this next guy works out. Melvin has already shown he is a failure at hiring managers as he has hired 3 of them. So give RR one more year if he and the team fail again RR and DM both are shown the door.

Roenicke is in a lose/lose situation really if he stays:
If the team starts slow next year, he'll be fired.
If the team starts out hot like this year, he will still be under close watch if the Brewers go into a losing stretch. A losing stretch is inevitable for all teams in the league so there's going to be tension with RR next season no matter what.

The Brewers announced on Friday that Ron Roenicke will return as manager next season.
His status had been up in the air after the team's late-season collapse, but ownership ultimately decided to bring Roenicke back. The Brewers did let go of hitting coach Jerry Narron and first base coach Garth Iorg. Roenicke has guided Milwaukee to a 335-313 record over four seasons.

Nothing since the Lind acquisition? The Brewers have been productive in the early offseason.

I don't think they'll do anything else, should be a quiet winter. Their payroll is already higher than ownership would like. Of the two pieces they are lacking, one (a bonafide ace) is waaaaaaay out of their price range, the other (another big bullpen arm) is a possibility but won't make too many front pages. I'd heard rumors that Attanasio was willing to go all in and try and get Scherzer, but I highly doubt it.
Loving the Lind acquisition. Provided they can maintain reasonable health, this isn't a bad roster. They should be able to play Lucroy 150-155 games by easing his load at catcher and having his play first vs. lefties to sit Lind. I would also love to see Reynolds back on another one-year deal as another corner infield option to play vs. lefties, as well as a power bat on the bench.

I was only expecting to see a bullpen arm or 2 after 1st base, very happy with Lind.
