I sold a card on 4/17 and I just got it in the mail this past Thursday. I don't have the opportunity to get there everyday as I live in the country and by the time I get off work the Post Office is closed. I sent it Priority and he received the card on Saturday. I look and I have negative feedback left by the buyer for not getting the card out quick enough. He said Paid for Priority shipping and it took 6 days to receive the card? Anybody else in awe of some people and their expectations. Geez, patience really is a lost quality. Sorry for the rant.

From my experiences Priority Mail has ALWAYS taken longer than regular first class mail. Not quite sure why that's the case though. I don't pay more money for a reason to have my packages arrive later

Dude you sold a card on a Saturday and didn't mail it until Thursday.

Bad seller service if nothing is said about this in the auction.

Place a disclaimer like "I only ship on X-Day. Please be aware of this when bidding"

If you had that you would be fine.

Kinda agree with ^^

If you can only ship on certain days, you need to be upfront about it,especially if you're going to charge for priority mail shipping.

use paypal shipping and put it in your mailbox.......

I understand that slow shipping sucks but as long as it is dlvd within a reasonable time frame you shouldn't get a negative. Ding the sellers DSRs (that's what they were made for) but realize that people have lives outside of cards and don't deserve a negative for shipping a few days late.

I love shipping from paypal. I too get out of work and the post office is closed 1/2 the week. I charge $3. for shipping, it costs me under 5, so I lose a buck and a half, but it is worth it to me to just put it in a box (Which you can order for free) from USPS and put it in my mailbox. Done.

Why are you taking a buck and a half loss on each sale if you are using Paypal shipping?

While it may be kinda crappy to get negative feedback for 6 days shipping time, it is also kinda crappy to sell a card that you don't have in your hands yet. If the card sold on 4/17 and you didn't get the card in the mail until this past Thursday, that means you sold the card on ebay 5 days before you even had the card. And if he didn't get the card until Saturday and you sold it on 4/17 that's actually 7 days not 6. I can't really say that I feel bad for you.

Sounds like the buyer wanted to flip the card if he is complaining about 6 days transit time. His offer to flip it expired on him so he turned around and complained at the seller for absolutely no real reason. Sorry, but if the card arrived, then the buyer has no excuse to complain about delivery times. Paypal doesn't cover "it took too long so it's not worth it." My 2 cents.

I think he meant that he mailed it by "got it in the mail",at least that's how I am reading it

But it's not six days transit time if it takes 5 days after payment was made to first ship it. If I'm paying priority shipping for an item on 4/17,that does not ship until 4/22,you can bet that I'm going to want to know what the hold up is.

Seller should have made it clear when he'd be shipping it. Lack of communication is the biggest issue here to me

I may have been misreading that. Either way paid on 4/17 shipped 4/22, especially if I paid extra for priority shipping, I would be upset.

first class or priority mail
people do not understand they are the same only difference is weight

first class under 13 ounces

but they arrive same day...

so a package that weighs 1 ounce shipped first class or priority mail will arrive same day and time

Dont feel bad my friend I had an ASS of a guy on the bayy give me a Neg. feedback because I mailed a card that got lost in the mail, and when he ask me about it I told him that I would and did refund his money and told him if the card showed up to keep it for his trouble.I just laughed because i know i treated him fair. I cant tell you how many cards That I have gave away just to help people out.

A 6 day lag between a card being paid for and the card being shipped is certainly excessive.

Leaving a negative over it is also certainly excessive.

You really can't justify either side of this debate.

If the buyer got his card, there was no reason to leave negative feedback. 6 days isn't even that long of a wait for a card either. People complain about anything on ebay, it's amazing.

Because I charge only 3 dollars, but pay 4.85 to ship priority, with DC.

Not trying to be nosy, but that seems weird considering how tight the margins are on most sales. Do you ship everything priority? You can do first class with DC for approximately $2 including supplies.

I'm curious as well ghost. I for one prefer seeing smaller shipping charges (your ok at 3, but for those that ship prioirty and charge 4.85-5 bucks to do so), really hurt their sales as 9/10 times I'll walk away from that auction as the collector in me wants it for the cheapest price..and well in my mind I pay taxes, not really a fond of giving the government more of the money they give me (keeping in mind I'm a federal employee) back to them (granted the USPS is its own entity, but if it was truely its own...they'd of gone under years ago with their quarterly losses).

Read the post. It took 6 days for the card to FIRST be shipped. That's worthy of a complaint, especially when paying for priority shipping

I am also lost why you ship priority at a loss??? 1st class is fine and do it through PayPal and just drop it in the box 24/7 as others have said.

I dont sell small stuff really, I try to keep it above $20 when selling online.

I start work at 8:30 monday-saturday, and get out at 8 most days. The days I get out at 5 or 6, I really REALLY dont feel like waiting at the post office. So paying the extra couple bucks, the few times I sell something, is worth it to me.

I don't think anyone is questioning your use of paypal shipping. They are questioning why you are paying for Priority Mail instead of First Class Parcel. Both can be used with paypal shipping. Both come with delivery confirmations. Both arrive at the same speed 90% of the time. Both let you print the postage from home and not have to wait in line at the post office. But one is around $5 while the other is usually less than $2 for single cards. No need to throw money away or go into your own pocket to pay $3+ extra for priority vs first class parcel.

Maybe I am doing something wrong, but the only options I have seen are Priority. I have tried from both usps.com and direct in paypal. I wonder what I am doing wrong?

Hmm, strange. I'd take another look on the paypal shipping page next time you sell an item. Seems like there should be a pull down menu for first class mail option? If you don't see it contact Paypal and ask them WTF!?

I use first class all the time for single cards. My total shipping cost for domestic first class mail (1oz) with delivery confirmation (no insurance) is $1.41. The cards get there in 2-3 days after I ship, rarely it takes 4 days. I ship cards in sleeves and top loaders, with a team bag covering, and inside a #000 bubble mailer I bought in bulk, with a peanut inside to add thickness. (1/4" thickness is required for a parcel sized package, I think? Either way the peanut really helps to keep the card stable inside the bubble mailer)

I just started charging $1.99 for shipping now and I notice buyers are a LOT happier to bid when shipping is low. And I'm still making like $.10 profit on shipping because I buy everything in bulk. (esupplystore.com is your friend) I have a label printer at home, so I pay for shipping online, print out the label, stick it to the bubble mailer, and stick it into my own mailbox on the way off to work. As long as I put the card in my mailbox the next day, the buyer gets the card in 2-4 days after they've paid, and they are usually very happy with that. And it only took about 5-10 minutes of my total time.

Still, sometimes people have bad days and give negative feedback even if you do everything right. I've had bad days before too, and treated someone unfairly...

I'm still a newbie though, so others might have better advice. Everything I learned about Ebay shipping I learned on this forum.

Should be a drop down menu on PayPal also check your weight.

Large envelope/package
after that shipping method or something, highlite 1st class
weight has to be rounded up, 1.6 oz put 2oz
Hope this works for you:)!

you're not taking the time to look at every option on the page......... that's what you're doing wrong.

look at where it says shipment information.

1. choose carrier
2. choose which shipping service you want.
3. choose the package size.
4. then, enter weight.

I swear though, I have double checked for a different option, because I did not feel like paying $5 to ship. Now I just have to wait for someone to buy something again so I can ship.

https://www.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_ship-now

Here is a direct link to the generic paypal shipping page with no prefilled info. (Note - You'll need to login first, but the link is legit. If you feel more comfortable, login as you normally would and then go to the link)

Under SHIPMENT INFORMATION you will see a drop down box beside 'Service Type'. 'First-Class Mail Parcel' is the option you want.

One potential reason it may not be coming up for you is if you are putting in USPS Priority Mail as the way you'll be shipping in your ebay auctions. If you set that as your shipping method, its possible that it wouldn't let you "downgrade" the shipping method thats associated with that item.
