Do you think a personalized autograph is worth more money than just an autograph? I have heard both sides to this question one being that a personalized autograph is worth more because it...I guess comes from the heart so to speak instead of just filling out what their manager tells them or just doing a mass signing at their desk.

Also, do you think autograph values go up and Down depending on the career changes of an athlete or popularity of the person/ artist and their work?

Thanks!

What do you mean by personalized? I think f its personalized for somebody (i.e., John.... Blah blah) I have little interest. If you mean a generic inscription over just signing, then yes most of the time.

Absolutely a person's career impacts autograph value. No question about that. But if the auto us very common, it'll never be very valuable.

^ what spidey said.
but if it's not authenticated, you might be looking at very little money.

If the BW card says "Bob, it was great meeting you!" then I'd most likely not buy it all, especially because my name is not Bob. I think in general having someone's name on it narrows who would be interested in it, but also, even if my name was Bob it wasn't my experience so it doesn't make me want it anymore than any other card.

A personalized autograph is worth more to the person it was given/intended for than it ever will be to anyone else. I would never purchase a personalized autograph unless I intended to use it as a cut signature, in which case it would be ideal because it'd likely sell for way less than an individual autograph.

Career and/or team affiliation will always affect autograph value. If the players signature is on a photo of them in their former team uniform, chances are it will fetch less. Now, there are ways around this, as you can just get a football/baseball/basketball/puck signed by a player, and then their current team affiliation would be much less intrusive on valuation.

As for artists work, I can't speak on that. Everyone values certain styles differently. There are sketch cards that sell for $300+ just because of artist name. I buy sketch cards for $25 that, in my mind, are of far superior quality. This road runs both ways due to personal tastes and preferences.

a personalized photo is terrible if you are trying to sell it in the secondary market

with that said, its also very easy to take the personalization off
