Hi! I just came into possession of a decent size collection of comics, and honestly have no idea how to go about figuring out if I have anything of any value whatsoever. I haven't started going through the boxes yet, so really not sure what the collection contains, but I do know that it is built of stuff from the last 20-30 years (nothing super old and awesome here). I definitely know there probably isn't a lot of value there, especially with that time period, but I was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a site or something that will help me determine what I've got (aside from eBay sales). Thanks!

There is no "easy" way to do it. Here's what I do. First step is to take inventory of what you have. This would be a list of Publisher, Year, Edition, Title, Number
Try and group them together by publisher/title in sequential order first if you have more than 1 of any title, that often helps
Next, document into your list. I also take a photo of each issue and rename the film names by Title_issue.jpg and put into a folder on my hard drive. Not necessary, but it helps me later visualize the book and condition quickly without having to dig out of a box.
Once you've got all that grunt work done, now the fun begins. You can use ComicPriceGuide.com (http://www.comicpriceguide.com) to get an idea of
book value on each book
If you want to share the list with me later I could probably quickly tell you if you've got any bigger dollar books in there. As you might already know, that time period was HEAVILY Printed and high dollar books are few and far between in those collections, but every once in a while a New Mutants #98 is to be found. I know I've bought collections in that past and pulled New Mutants #98 out of it, so it does happen.
Hope that helps.
