With the turnaround of the Pirates and the gelling in the outfield of Marte, McCutchen, and Harrison of late, do you think this will delay the call-up of Polanco?

Esp the way Harrison has been playing in RF and hitting.

Josh Harrison has a career .289 OBP. He's not blocking anybody.

Polanco is a big piece of the future in Pitt. He will be there very soon.

Just like what asw37 said, Nutting "Scrooge McDuck" will bring up Polanco when it costs him less money too.

Once they did not sign him to a contract, they never considered bring him up and loosing a year of control. This is the way a small market team has to operate for long term success and was the smart move.

True and they then will likely have the best OF in baseball. Should be a lot of fun to watch. This team looks to be competitive for a long time with the great job the front office is doing. If they can get their young arms healthy and productive at the MLB level they will be toward the top of that division for a long time.

Wow so of course San Diego just misses the debuts of guys like Harper and now Polanco :( At least I got to see Travis D'arnaud's though :o

Gerrit Cole made his debut on June 11th. So yeah I would look at the same time June 10-12th against the Cubs

We shall see. I hope so. I have a heavy investment in him. Maybe Kris Bryant will debut in that series too!

I can understand wanting an extra year of control from your top prospect. But if he's not called up on the day they gain that extra year then they're silly. He's got nothing left to prove in the minor leagues. He's been toying with minor league pitchers for the past 2+ seasons. He's ready and we the fans are ready for him.

there is no "set day"
the day is a guess because there's a formula that's used using percentages

therefore, don't be surprised if they wait an extra few days just to "guarantee" that the call up date successfully meets the Super 2 qualifications

I didn't know that, I had always heard a date thrown around with all these top prospects this time of year and just assumed it was a set deadline. Interesting. Learn something everyday :)!

Patience... and pick him up if he is a FA on your fantasy team. I think he will help you this year, just like Springer is.

interesting that you bring that up because i've been debating to myself how much he will actually be able to help fantasy teams. We all know he is a 5-tool player, however his power is a little slower developing than Springers. He also is a very skilled baserunner but that doesn't necessarily mean that the Pirates will use him to steal a lot....since they're not that type of team. If he comes up in June, posts a line of something like .280BA 8HR and 50 RBI's will that really be worth a pick up in non-keeper leagues?

FYI I love Polanco and i'm a firm believer in him. Bought 30 chrome base autos and 4 blue chrome autos last year. Just don't know how much he will be able to help fantasy teams without the HR's and steals.

He has some speed, and he can rake. I've read they compared him to Bonds when he was in the minors in Pittsburgh. I gave a chance on Puig when he got called up and that worked out well, why not and see what he can do for a couple weeks if you have a guy doing nothing on your bench. I did hold on to Springer luckily, and that is paying dividends now. I've also got Taveras sitting on my bench too and waiting to pull the trigger on Bryant when he gets called up since I had Arenado at third. Lots of exciting prospects coming up soon! Yes... got to be careful having too many rookies on your team. I'm monitoring that as well.
