Well, I might get back in card collecting.... I despise chase cards of today just want the basic star cards of players like Mike Trout or should I try to start collecting players of '62 set (when I went to Yankee Stadium). Like so many I wish my mom didn't give away or sell the cards.
Interesting decision. I miss the players of old when team loyalty meant something and pushing and shoving for autographs (thinking of how much its worth) did not happen.

Go for the '62 set, maybe in a specific grade that fits your budget.

Yep, I'd say by your OP you answered your own question. But I would vote vintage as well. Wish I could take my own advice. Lol

Look at it this way. If you want a collection and dont care about how much you spend, go for the 1962 set.

Trust me, you can get most all of these Trout cards for 25-50% within 3-5 years.
