Anyone know which RC's made it into Series 2? I am assuming we see Tanaka and Abreu?

Probably see the checklist next week sometime.

I've only done the case breaking thing the past couple years, but I know most of you vets say S2 is always the weakest of the 3 Topps flagship series.

Will Springer make it in S2? if so, that's 3 pretty promising prospects for this series. Seems more than usual.

Big rumor of production cuts. Will be interesting to see if it's true or not.

I was bored to tears opening series 2 last year.
Skipped base topps altogether this year.
Last year was way too half a$$ed

is Topps really cutting back? or just spreading out its production among more products?

New this year:

Stadium Club
Tek
Dynasty
not to mention more parallels....yellow, green, clear.

any others I'm missing?

Yea, S1, S2 and Archives may be down, but overall Topps is probably producing the same amount, or possibly even more, total cards than it has in prior years.

My Jumbo case of S2 last year was my all - time fugliest break. Hoping that this year will be better somehow.

If people were buying topps wouldn't be cutting back.
3 straight years of an, I don't want to say awful, overpriced archives product and people are done.
Even with production down its still not worth your time.
Cases have gone down 50 percent 3 years in a row
Ill bump the thread in 6 months when cases are $449 and you pull a Roger Dorn auto as your case hit

Topps has alrady had Series 2 in the presses for months.

He may be a lucky redemption.

I think Springer is going to be in Allen & Ginter, Chrome & Update along with C.J. Cron. I think Series 2 will have Crazy amounts of Tanaka.

Going to be a fun fall of releases.

Edit:

Topps Just released this list of Springers inclusion in 2014 sets:

Allen & Ginter
Topps Five Star
Triple Threads
Topps Updates
Bowman Inception
Bowman Platinum
Topps Finest
Topps Chrome
Bowman Chrome
Topps Supreme
Topps High Tek
Bowman Sterling
Topps Dynasty

It looks like once again that Update will be the Topps set to get

Archives I never did like...this years is no exception

I would be shocked if Abreu and Tanaka didn't have base in Series 2, as they have been in the major's since the start of the year, only reason they weren't in Series 1 was because they hadn't appeared in a Major League game yet.
If production was really cut, by say, at least 25%, I could see Series 2 being a good release, as it isn't really that hard to make money on it if sold correctly. Series 2 was god awful last year, but I still almost broke even.

agree - Series 2 last year had Gyorko, Gattis and Fernandez and 2 of the 3 weren't really hot when Series 2 hit while Gattis was...but I have a feeling all of the good RC's will be in Update/Bowman Draft once again

If Evan Gattis was going for $12 out the gate last year, Abreu and Tanaka should go for $20.

Abreu, yes, maybe, considering he hasn't had a base rookie yet.

Tanaka's Bowman Rookie isn't doing as well as I thought it would, but both could still be decent, I just think Abreu will be higher based on scarcity.

Doesn't help that there are a bajillion Tanaka Bowman RCs.

True, but now there will be 2 bajillion, as opposed to 1 bajillion Abreus :)

and if topps has their way there will be 3 bajillion by the time Update/Draft come out

All of Topps products will see a production cut this year. I know this for a fact.

Go ahead and say I don't. But you'll all see when they drop.

Doesn't this go live next week? Still no checklist?

which is why they have added so many new products, instead of overproducing individual products, they will just overproduce in total, but creating more value in all the main releases, until everyone runs out of money:p

I thought there was a limit to how many releases they could have a year..or has that regulation now gone away?

If I paid $250 for a box of Dynasty and saw George Springer staring at me when I opened it, there had better be two $100 bills undernath the card.

So much for the "most carefully selected checklist of all-time"...

Now that would mean Topps knows they aren't giving you great value...

He has had SP rookie cards in Archives and Gypsy Queen.

This is true, but that's not a BASE rookie. Base would imply non-SP.

His first base RC was Bowman...So either he made it into Series 2 as #661 or he is solely in Update..but either way i bet he is in A&G

Abreu or Tanaka? Abreu has not had a base RC ... Bowman was a "First Chrome".

I thought we were talking Tanaka...my guess on Abreu is going to be A&G...they may not have had time to get him into Series 2

Tanaka and Abreu started in the majors at the exact same time, if they have time for one they have time for another.

Only reason they made Abreu a prospect in Bowman was because he had a prospect auto. Otherwise, I think he would have been a rookie.

Hoping both Tanaka and Abreu make it in Series 2. S2 could really use a boost after how bad it was past 2 years for breaks.

Agree - Last years big RC's was Gattis and I don't really remember who else..Jose Fernandez didn't come on until well after S2 was out
