i'd ask all these guys hoarding unopened boxes, racks, cellos and trays from the 70's how much they would take for them....and then add 10% so they'd definitely sell to me.

I would buy 1 case of all the high end products per year. I'd like to think given the nature of my interests, I would blow the rest gambling out of control in Las Vegas.

Not one penny on any topps boxes over $100.

RichardGasner

I think I would just constantly be pressing BIN on the Bay. Any and every card that looks nice
I'd try to buy Topps and fix that company up, because everybody knows that needs to be done.
And yes, lots and lots of cases of Draft!

Then I'd become a Supercollector of Superfractors

Id increase my wax to sell at shows but probably wouldn't toss it into singles unless I could buy like the whole print run of a certain player's autos...Super --> base...every single one.

I have thought about this several of times. This is how I would do it, in this order:

1) Pay off my student loans
2) Buy myself a brand new truck and a vehicle that gets great gas mileage
3) Build a new house
4) Purchase a beautiful engagement ring for my girlfriend
5) Get turf on the field for the high school team that I played for and currently coach
6) Buy some wax, several cases of whatever I choose
7) Build a McDonalds where there is one needed (actually have the location picked out) so the money continues to flow in
8) Buy more wax with the money that continues to flow in
9) Buy myself some other extracurricular toys because I could
10) Buy wax again because the first two times wasn't enough

There are places w/o McDonalds? There are about 18 within 2 miles of my apartment and most deliver.

I would also make a list of all of the players that you guys "supercollect" based on your sigs. I would then buy the most expensive and lowest numbered cards of each of those players, declare myself the "ultimate supercollector" of those players, then create a thread on here to talk about my recent pick-ups.

Yes, there are some pretty good size towns within a 30-40 mile radius of where I live that do not have a McDonalds. In all honesty, I think we only have about 3, maybe 4, McDonalds in a 30 mile radius.

Yeah, the town I am from only has a population of 862 people. But in the 30-40 mile radius, there is some good sized areas. My neighboring town/city is 12,000+ but the town I'd be building in is 3,000 people BUT to get from the Northern part of the state to the Southern (The actually cities), you have to go right through it. It'd be a perfect location because there is about a 70-80 mile stretch without anywhere to stop to eat

Id also go to more sporting events and get the best seats everywhere I went.

I would collect the following:

1) Historic documents or signatures - not the cut up versions, but the actual document that I could display. I would focus on wars and major events in history.

2) I would buy high-end rookies (or the best rookie) of modern day players and vintage rookies.

3) Film and television artifacts - Anything from Harry Potter to Sopranos

4) Super Bowl ring.

5) Memories - go on a lot of trips.

This is assuming a win of at least $100 million after taxes. I would pay off my debt and give everyone in my family $150K. Then I would change my number and pop-up every couple of years to be the money fairy. My wife's family is wealthy- so I wouldn't worry about hanging with them, but my side, not so much. So I would have to be mindful of that when making plans to visit. I would also take my grandma to the Vatican and spare no expense. Nurses, hospital bed, private jet, doctor, etc., Then have a private tour and have someone carry her if need be. (She can't walk).

Depends really I'm married with no kids and never will have kids. If I won one of those 600 million and invested it I would really never run out. I'm not talking about buying 50 houses and 200 cars. I think I'd be able to buy pretty much any card I wanted with that much plus the investment payouts.

If you already have $100 million you don't need Harvard. The only thing you'd get out of it is access to the rich and powerful. And you can just get that directly since you have the money.

It's weird, my boss went and obtained his MBA from Harvard although he has more money than most lottery winners. Part of it was probably just to prove that he's smarter than almost everyone else.

If you are rich, you don't go to Harvard for the money you go for the prestige and the education. For some reason, probably just me but I love Harvard.

What I would do in this order:

1) Give some away to select family and friends. Thinking about how I could change the lives of people is a lot better feeling than pulling a superfractor!!

2) Buy a new vehicle and a modest new house.

3) Donate to several charities (majority going to RAINN and ASPCA)

4) After taking out a small (relatively) amount to "play" with, put the rest into savings accounts and live off the interest.

5) Draw up a legal will that will distribute whatever I have left when I die to various charities, family, and friends.

my lottery/wax busting fantasy (oh come on, every collector has one...) has always involved finding every last box of 2004 and 2005 absolute and busting it. never busted a box in the day, it was always too much. love some of those cards. even with all the premium museum blah blah today, they just don't make 'em like some of those absolute monster pulls.

move to la jolla, have suite in vegas, invest in real estate, energy, stocks and bonds. if I didn't blow it, hopefully I would end up giving away more than I won.

As much vintage wax as I could find, to be realistic, I might focus on 1976 - 1980 wax because that is when I collected as a child. Tons of High end wax from recent years, Five Star, National Treasures, etc. I would also buy High End singles from those sets.
If it was a 100 million jackpot after taxes, I would probably spend about 1% or 1 million on Sports Cards fairly quickly, then put myself on a budget of like $50,000 a month.
Making sure my principal savings was not shrinking and that I could live off the interest.

Honestly, I feel like spending a ton of money on wax would get old if I won the lottery. If I have enough money to just buy every card I want, what's the point in busting wax? I feel like the thrill of hitting something big is not only beating the odds, but getting something you couldn't normally afford, OR being able to profit off of it. Those last two points are moot if you're already rich.

Busting older products for cards you just don't see surface, or never got to open would be fun though. And I'd go harder on expanding my Plawecki/Delgado/Braves PCs.
