For those that haven't played please feel free to ask questions. Yahoo provides tons of tools that help. As far as pitching set ups I use MLB.com the night before. If you hover the mouse over the 'players' tab at the top of the page it will bring down a drop down menu. Click 'probable pitchers'. It is a huge help and usually shows starts a couple of days out.

Yes, I usually do it the night before. Check your next days lineup to see who is playing, has the day off, evaluate matchups etc. There is also a max cap for innings pitched and games per position. Players can only play where eligible, this is where players like Miggy or Lawrie become valuable (not that Miggy isn't regardless). But for example, Miggy is Yahoo eligible at 1st and 3rd, it gives you lineup flexibility. Lawrie is 2nd and 3rd.

if your starting pitcher is not starting that day, then use your extra P spots on relief guys (you can start 2 SP, 2 RP, and then a few others that are P ----- those extra P can be either SP or RP)

Only SP's can go in the top two spots but sp's or rp's can go in the other pitching spots. You could start seven sp's per day if you wanted but there is a maximum innings limit so you would use that up quickly. Also, saves are a category. If you were to not have saves and you come in last in that category you better kick ass everywhere else as you are automatically giving up a potential 12 pt swing.

Scoring categories are;

Offense : Runs, hr's, rbi's, sb's and average.

Pitching : Wins, saves, k's, era and whip.

Each category is scored from 1 pt to 12 based on the leader in the category. The best score is 12 and the worst is 1. All points from all categories are added up and the highest point total is the winner. The goal is obviously to do as well as possible in all categories. That is why it hurts so much to punt one.

To reach the maximum innings pitched limit you have 8.2 innings pitched per day to use. If you have no innings pitched in a day that is fine, they carry over. There are a total of 900 innings available to use for our season. The goal is to use them all. If you use only 800 for example but I'm able to use 900 worth those 100 that you didn't use cost you a ton of k's, wins, saves or whatever.

There is a max with position players too as far as games played. You have one day of use per position for each game the remainder of the season. If your 1st baseman plays every single game from here on out you have no worries but more than likely he gets a rest day or whatever. Now you are short a day. You can use a bench player to make that day up if you choose.

right now build up as many stats as possible

8th inning guys are OK to add since they usually have good era and whip and can get occasional vulture wins and saves
(guys like pitt melancon, Yankees betances)

Just giving you a hard time, appreciate the gesture on Stanton but he wouldn't have made it to me anyways. The draft just got away from me and at some point I decided to stockpile arms to use as trade bait. We'll see if that works out. if it doesn't I should at least be able to own the saves category. You have a solid team all around, I like it. Trades are fun but so hard to find even matches. As for the utility spot, Votto should be back soon and I'll be picking up a waiver player to fill it until he does.

Yeah, find me one MLB GM that would take Cruz over Stanton. That's what I thought. Cruz is a proven cheat having a career year. I say he regresses a lot and I also doubt that he's clean. The ped part who cares as far as it relates to your fantasy team. At least as long as he doesn't get busted. The regression part though .................

To be honest I'm not sure which I'd rather have for the remainder of the fantasy season either. Yes, we both know that my bias would choose Stanton but if I could set that aside? They are both playing well above norms at least as far as average. Stanton has always hit this many hr's and Cruz has hit a lot but not quite like this. Yahoo has projected for the remainder of 2014;

Stanton - .296 / 24.6 hr's / 63.3 rbi's / 57.1 runs and 3.6 sb's
Cruz - .282 / 23.6 hr's / 66.7 rbi's / 51.7 runs and 3.3 sb's

Pretty damn close. I'd take Stanton but not by much. In real life and going forward? Not even close.

10 is your priority ranking for the waiver wire. You can check points using the stat tracker, otherwise I assume it will be updated the next day. I think you were in 3rd or 4th place.

When a player gets released he is put on waivers. Let's say someone was an idiot and dropped a stud for some reason and the 11 other owners wanted him. If we all claim him from waivers the person with the lowest claim number gets him. After winning a claim, the owners claim priority drops to the back of the line. So if the winner had claim #1 and they won the claim they will have claim #12 now for the next one.

If a player is dropped and he passes through waivers without being claimed, he can be picked up as a FA and your claim number stays intact.

I now find out that I missed a Trout grand slam and Angels comeback win. Not a good start on the day.

Yep, I did this in 2007 and 2008 and won my leagues. Swore I would never take it that serious again and even didn't play for years. I hated rooting for a player to do well against my real life team or for an Angels pitcher to allow some hits for an opposing player just because he was on my fantasy team. Now I spend less than ten minutes a day on my team and am fine with whatever happens. I still want to win but won't obsess over it.

Horrible managing of my lineup tonight. On the bench my hitters are 9/12 with 9 RBI. My entire rest of my lineup has only 4 hits and 7 RBI. Since my two outfielders George Springer and Alfonso Soriano didn't even play I could have used all of them. I shouldn't have moved my lineup around last night.

Go to Players, Players List, and click on the little green + sign, then you can pick someone to drop.

You can also drop w/o picking up someone, same deal, but filter for your team and you will have a red - sign

there is probably a better way to do this, but it's what I found. I'm not sure on trades yet, at least on how to initiate one.

To be honest I like your side better. The other side is a bunch of waiver filler other than Morneau but he isn't worth Davis. I'm not a fan of Davis but I'd rather have him than these guys. Good luck to you both, I love trades and active leagues so win or lose I enjoy seeing things like this. I wish I could find a partner that needs saves but the guys without it seem to be fine being weak.

Looks like my fantasy team is similar to a typical Braves team. My team has a low ERA at 3.12 but my team batting average is kinda low at .260.

I'm not sure how my home run totals compare to others. My team has 19 homers which is a HR per every 24 at-bats.

nice too to have established and successful set up guys like melancon and betances (years ago guys like Vetters, Gregorson) who can get occasional save and vulture wins with solid whip/era

I could have sworn that I removed the trade deadline. I hate those stupid things. I will remove or extend it if we can get a majority in favor. As long as we don't see any lopsided trades by people that are mailing it in I don't see an issue.

I'm fortunate that my pitchers have been so good all season that I could afford for Chris Sale to forget who he was last night.

SO I got the box today, sorry to say it was nothing to write home about. Autos were Dean Anna and JR Murphy, and a blue Jayson Werth /199 and Chris Owings Sepia /75. Did get a Tanaka RC and others, and should be able to complete a base set with the base I have left over.

Congrats on the win and sorry about the crappy box. Seems to be the norm with this product this year. If we do it again we can decide on maybe something else and better. Museum? 11 ways it wouldn't be that bad. I'm definitely down for next year but some of these guys are going to have to justify their spots.
