Is there a site or a blog that someone has up that would help someone getting back into the hobby looking only for key rookie cards of different players. Basically I only want the main card as in if I said Frank Thomas you would automatically think of his 1990 Leaf card. What would that card be for Aaron Rodgers, JJ Watt, Eddie Lacy, Kevin Durant and so on.
Thanks

Collecting pre-1989 makes this a pretty simple issue :)

Joking aside, I don't know of any "resource." I think it would be extremely difficult to produce a consensus anyways... Especially on anything in the 2000's.

The Chrome refractor RC is probably the most consistently desired RC. It goes all the way back to 1996.

If your looking for that "1" football RC of each player it will go like this for newer cards...
Exquisite (2009 & before, after is college uni and I prefer the NT from 2010 on...)
National Treasures
Topps Chrome refractor/auto

The PSA registry has key card rc sets for every teams, and the common awards (roy, mvp, et al). They almost always use the best rc...like the Frank Thomas Leaf. The newer entries get voted on, and for the last few years, Topps Chrome is usually the base card selected. They have a few guidelines you may or may not follow for later cards, like no autos and /99 or more.

Anyway, sounds like a list of those cards is what you are looking for. or very close.

On the newer stuff I've been picking up the Chrome refractors and its variations with the blue waves being my favorites but a bit confused on their print count. I'll definitely check out the PSA suggestion as that sounds like a good resource to check. Also seems like the Rookie refractor autos are the most popular which are very cool and even tho a rookie seems like more of an insert to me. Thanks all.

^^^^^This and add Contenders to the list. National Treasures will typically be the most expensive card due to product costing more, but that doesn't always translate to most sought after.
