Hi guys I'm new here. I'd like to talk to the mods and owners of this board about doing a contest.

I would like to do something a little different. I'd like to get some of you to sign up and use the world community grid program. It's a program that lets your computer do disease research. It doesn't use too much of your systems resources so you won't even know it's running unless you are doing some serious gaming. It's a great project that might lead to cures for many diseases, in fact a new drug they found just might be a cure for one of the worst forms of childhood cancer, neuroblastoma. Those that complete the most amount of work would get the top prizes. I'm thinking of offering 5 different prizes, some worth over $25. Right now I have a lot of football packs. I have sealed boxes of topps 2012 chrome and bowman 2012. I might even throw in a sealed mini box of topps museum collection as the top prize.

As a second part of the contest I would offer some packs you can get just by commenting on certain days in the contest thread I make. I will probably give you one entry per comment you make on specific days. I would use a randomizer to pick about 5 winners of single packs this way.

I don't want to post any links to world community grid or explain further until I get a chance to discuss it with those in charge here.

Also, can anyone tell me how long you have to edit a post here? I know some forums allow editing of a post for an unlimited amount of time.

Also it might be very possible for me to buy some of the product directly from blowoutcards and have it drop shipped to the winners.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm writing a blog post about what I'd like to do here. I'll send it to you when I'm done.

The people in charge are the mods...some are iluvfish2, pskell02, and houdini. They'd be good to talk to about this, which definitely seems like a great cause!

The editing thing is fine, you can edit all you want. Our issue is "bumping" threads, it's preferred that you wait 24 hours before posting consecutively in a thread. This is a mandatory rule in the Buy/Sell/Trade sections and spam sections but it's also just kind of a courtesy rule in other less transaction based sections. It is okay to post after someone else does like you did in responding to HammerFan, but like your first two posts were consecutively you and within 24 hours, which is okay here in Introductions but would possibly get you a temporary suspension in other areas of the forum.

Anyways, if you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Sounds like a really cool program and idea, hope you get it approved by the mods. Either way i'd be interested in learning more about it.
