Questions on older wax boxes and long-term storage

I have some questions regarding long-term storage of wax boxes.

I recently purchased a wax box from 1992 on the Bay and noticed that the bottom of the box appears to be yellowing. It almost looks like water damage, but the box itself does not appear to be misshapen at all.

Could this be a symptom of how the box was stored over time? If so, is there a way to store wax boxes to minimize wearing of the box? And most importantly, should I be worried about the cards inside?

Any thoughts or experience anyone has on this would be greatly appreciated.

The box has something wrong with it (water damage perhaps). I have old wax from the 70s that looks brand new. You just need to put it on a shelf and not touch it or have anything else touch it in a climate-controlled area (not too hot or not too cold). Non-smoking environment can't hurt. It's not rocket science -- you just got a damaged box.

With expensive boxes and cases I usually saran wrap them.

Thanks for the advice. I have contacted the seller to inform him of the condition of the box. I would hate to open it and have a bunch of damaged cards.
