The Nationals will win the division but they could have done it with or without Harper

Harper still remains the most overrated player in baseball for the time being.

How could you possibly hate kemp? Nicest guy in Major League Baseball.

When you start a thread with haters gonna hate, who exactly is "trolling" if anyone?

First words in his post..

"Haters Gonna Hate"

Which happens to be the most obvious of troll statements. Invented by trolls in order to troll.

Harper has been heralded as the second coming since he was 15. Not to mention, he's been really banged up this year. And he's still only what? 22?

I don't think he's a tool, but he's not setting the league on fire like everyone though he would, either. I hope he gets healthy and can start to be consistent. I like the guy, he has an old school grittiness to him that is fun to watch. I don't own any of his cards, but I hope this is the beginning of a hot streak for him. Baseball needs guys like him to do well.

2013 Healthy - until he hit the two walls, with his normal off-season routine:He batted .356, reached base at a .437 clip and slugged .744. He struck out 15 times in 103 plate appearances, drew 13 walks and slammed nine home runs.

Harper's off-season routine was set back exactly one month by the knee surgery last year

In the eighth game of 2014, he clobbered a home run to the upper deck. A weight had been lifted. In the next 16 games, a span of 65 plate appearances, Harper hit .345/.415/.534 as he swallowed getting benched for not running out a groundball.

Harper had to change his stance/swing-mechanics for both injuries, so I say, just let him get healthy.

I'm going to say this and equate it to RGIII's injury: Very simply both teams Nats/Redskins brought their young stars back TOO soon because they wanted money in their pockets...

and to NeedChapmans - I'll take the 2011 BCP1's. Got plenty of the 2012's.

p.s. Don't get me started on Matt Williams as coach - Davey was FAR better at handling Harper and the rest of the players. McCatty is the best pitching coach though by far...

Kris HOF Bryant. Watch what you say about him now.

When Baez made his debut, Harper was finally not the youngest guy in the league

That being said... Baez had caught Harper in 2014 Homeruns prior to the walk off

I'm a firm believer in Harper, but he is 21

5-Tool, with a sick work ethic and a borderline psychopathic desire to be great

14 years from now, Harper will be a legend.... Quote for posterity

And hitters are going to hit. Which apparently Harper isnt with a BA of .165 in August. But who cares as long as he hits 1 hr a month lol

Maybe if Harper wasn't such a clumsy goober then he wouldn't be getting hurt all the time. When was the last time you saw Trout run into a wall?

It's not all circumstance, you know.

Still a middle of the road outfielder

...at age 21 that's not such a bad accomplishment.

I've said it before and here it is again. Williams isn't the problem. Harper is his biggest enemy. He isn't being coddled and is facing adversity and he doesn't know how to handle it. He doesn't have he head for the game. Trout struggled at the beginning and ground it out (he's barely older than Harper). It's been two and a half years, he is regressing. It's far past time making excuses(age, manager, etc) and start facing the fact that he just may be a decent, but not great, middle of the lineup outfielder. Believe his track record so far, not his hype. Btw, only own one relic Harper card so I'm not invested in anyway. Wish him the best but I just don't see him excelling

Generally, I think it's a bit premature to overanalyze a guy after a hand injury. I think it's clear he has rebounded well from the injury, probably due to mechanics, confidence, etc.

The guy is super young, has all the talent in the world, and has shown that he can be great in stretches.

Just give him some time... he may never reach Trout's level or even MVP levels but I bet he'll be an All Star caliber player (again) soon...
