I recently got an email back from the poster after I asked for a few photos and this is what I got.
What do you guys think? Worth a shot?

In my experience, when you see comics in a tub like that, or in the tops of office paper boxes, they are auction lots they've way over paid for, and key issues are usually pulled.

Agree, even an amatuer know to put name brand (Hulk, Avengers) in the pic if they own them. This could be leftover junk.

I would check it out anyway because there is a 12 cent 1967 Action Comic #351 in the picture it's not worth alot but there may be something else good in the box?
Here is a good website with pictures of all the old covers in numerical order.

Absolutely. Looking never hurts. I've gotten boxes of crap before like this cheap, but in the bottom found an X-Men #266 or along those lines, just make sure you can look through it, see if there's content that matches their asking price and don't over pay like they may have. Too many times I've had people win crap at auction for ridiculous amounts, and then try and pawn their mistake off onto me.

those sellers have already check ebay for the prices...pulled the "key" issues and now are they are trying to find someone who thinks the remaining comics are worth some $$$$. I would stay away. I find that's the case with craigslist. It's different at garage sales/estate sales!

True, the stabbing does hurt a bit.

In a few we will see on the news that some guy found a rare Key issue copy of Detective Comics first appearance of Batman from a box of comics he got on Craiglist worth over $1 Million dollars.

If you're in the SF Bay Area, odds are in a sophisticated metropolitan market, treasure hunting is harder and harder to find gold nuggets.
If it's worth your time and gas to check out, go for it, but bring a friend and meet in a safe public area, since a lot of times people get killed over stupid stuff. I recall reading about a guy and his son answering a Craigslist ad last year... here's the story:

I appreciate all of your responses guys.
It is a little ways away, and I don't think I am going to make the trip.
Again, I appreciate all your input. (:

One thing I've done many times with Craigs List people is pay to have the comics shipped to me COD and never meet them in person. Granted, this takes more time on the phone and exchanging photos and descriptions, but it helps eliminate the getting murdered part. At least so far it has for me. Hold on, someone is banging on my back window.. brb....

Mentioning auctions. There is one in Anderson, IN that I used to go to quite a bit, Indy may know if Jimmy's auctions. There was one auction with about 15 boxes of comics, each their own lot. One box had multiple Watchmen issues in it, 3 number 1's. 30 issues total. I am thinking 150 max. I got outbid at 150 and it went over 300.
I scored one box of ASM's and got 40 issue all from the 20's to the 170's for under 50 bucks.
People bid weird at auctions.

I have bought books at auctions in Anderson, but not sure if it was Jimmys. Might have been. I typically do max phone bids and don't show up in person as I don't want to get caught up in overbidding myself. I think the last book I bought up there was a Superman #30 which I didn't overpay for, but it was not in the best condition, that's also a gamble you take by not being there in person.

I'll keep that in mind!
I have done quite a few deals on craigslist dealing with video games, but comics are a different deal altogether.
A lot harder to move than a box of old video games.
