Between classes, this should get some discussion.

What if for 2015 Chrome, Topps contracted with BGS? Send them a batch of rookie supers - every auto has to be 9.5 + 10 and every nonauto a 10. Buyers pull redemption cards and have a slabbed 1/1 mailed to them asap.

"Topps Chrome 2015, where uniqueness meets perfection."

Pros:
- It'd be awesome.
- It'd make seeing that blue edge of a redemption card in your pack that much more exciting.

Cons:
- More eye rolling over the standards of grading.
- The rejected 1/1s "leaking" out onto the market.
- Long shipping delays for redemptions.
- Unfulfilled redemptions.
- Unforeseen, terrible consequences.

........or Topps could just add a second auto to each box. :coffee:

Haha... Nope. Would not work out. Topps doesn't forfeit much money so BGS would be out of key. Also some supers look better not graded in a slab so that could piss some collectors off. Also if the grade comes less than a 9.5 or 10 then they would have to redo the card and some may be a redemption.

If they are going straight to BGS from Topps why wouldn't every one be a 10/10 with all 10 subgrades?

Some guys's autos are consistently problematic.
Besides, watch the video of the BGS guy explaining the Strasburg grade, and you'll realize BGS grading would become a rubber stamp on these cards.

Uniqueness?

Except for the other 10 releases Topps puts out exactly like it.

Whoever you are you sure are coming out of the gate strong. :coffee:

You have had some bad ideas... but this take the taco, pal.

Well at least the grade only Supers would help tell the fake ones from the real ones. But it would take away the awesomeness of seeing that gold border in a pack (even though I never have experienced that).

Print the redemptions on refractor stock and problem solved…. Not a fan of the idea overall … but Ill play the devils advocate…. if it did work like that then the person redeeming the card should have the option of receiving a graded or raw card.

BOOM.

Now that is an idea

Just another thought…. Topps can have them all Raw Reviewed so the redeemer can actually know the grade ahead of time too… I you want it slabbed … then it goes to BGS then to you…. If you don't want it slabbed you still get the Raw Review seal and can still opt to send it in for a slab at a later time.

I would rather just full well know it will be graded a 10. But there would have to be a stipulation from Topps.

If the redeemer chooses to not have it redeemed as graded and opts for the raw, the card no longer must be graded a 10 (as once it leaves BGS, the more handling it has may impact the cards grading.)

So either when you get it redeemed you get it as a BGS 10, or you get it raw and forever risk it losing its 10.

I do agree that such rare, sought after cards should theoretically be 10 Pristines anyway. So why not send them to BGS (as the OP states) and make sure another auditing company (BGS) approves of the quality of the card. To me it is no different than my company, which sends out many of our parts to other companies to have them inspect them. They serve as an outside source that confirms quality, precision and accuracy.

I think it is a fabulous idea.

Do you keep asking the player to sign until you hit the 9.5/10 in BGS? Or do you go back to trim the card and hopefully it hit the 9.5/10?

Kencope can help on the second part.

Way too stupid of an idea for Topps. You could definitely work for Panini though.

Exactly. Do you print multiple copies and hope 1 of them gets a 9.5/10? What if they don't, then they have to repeat the process over again, from printing the card, to shipping to the player, getting the auto perfect, shipping it back to the company/graders, etc. It would take too much time and cost a lot of money to get a product ready like this.

I faintly knicked one of the (back?) corners on my avatar between pulling it and selling it. Still...I'm glad it came as a real card and not a redemption.

Slowly pulling it from the pack was awesome. "Oh, damn. A superfractor! Sweet. Wait...I see a Colts' jersey. WAIT. It's NOT FLEENER. Woooooo!" :D

I would love to know that my superfractor was already a BGS 9.5......

Centering. They will not all have great centering.
