Possibly a non-story but the boards are slow as hell today - we need to discuss something non-NT related
Derrick Rose misses Team USA practice due to knee soreness (http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2014/08/19/rose-misses-practice-with-knee-soreness-cousins-50-50-to-play-wednesday/)

how will this affect the value of his NT cards?

I don' t believe this article at all....Derrick was quoted last night stating “I feel great actually. My body is good. I’m not aching. So that’s a good sign. Just trying to take it day by day.”.

What part don't you believe?
He clearly hasn't been able to play basketball in a few days. That's been covered on multiple sites including ESPN and others - not just Sheridan Hoops. That has to mean something - even if the article might make it sound worse then perhaps it is.

If he doesn't play that should be completely fine. Guys not going to risk the upcoming season for nothing. Love the fact that coach Thibs is there to oversee Roses progression.

The article is a day old, it was reported that monday was a planned day of rest and then tuesday he was held out with knee soreness, and now he's going to play in the msg game. The sit down interview he did is from monday. If he DIDNT have sore knees after not playing so long; I honest would think that was weirder

He won't be playing against the Dominican Republic

Not playing tonight...
Soreness is to be expected, according to previous reports, so it's not serious, at this point.
Obviously, they're taking no chances, but I hope it's nothing that lasts.

Always a concern when you hear Rose and sore knees even if it is to be expected.

Straight from Derrick.
Rose says "It's just body fatigue." Not the knees? "No, not the knees. No, no, no, no. You don't got to worry about that."

Whats he gonna say though, yep its the knees?

When you miss the amount of time he did, your conditioning isn't up to par, and your body hurts while going hard for the first time in a long time. Just like when someone who doesn't work out much hits the gym for the first time in a long time. Your body hurts at first but then adjusts.

Exactly.
If he hasn't played Basketball in 3 days because of "body fatigue" then he has bigger problems then just his knees. He's just lame.

I don't really think they're being haters. They're being realistic. If he comes back this year and plays 15-20 minutes a game and scores around 10-12 i'd consider that a successful return after what his body has been through.

I'm not hating. I don't care about Rose.
It's clear he's having knee soreness - whether it becomes an issue? Who knows. We'll all find out.
But him saying "My body is just fatigued" is just his way of avoiding the question - and if it really is just body whatever (which it isn't) then he needs to be playing not taking multiple days off.
It's simple.

this is really not a story though of course he's gonna be fatigued him playing in the world cup was to get him ready for the season, which its doing. He's gonna light it up this year, and the bulls will be a contender.

It's simple.
The fact that he's having knee soreness is expected; that's been stated by people with a lot more knowledge of the situation than you.
The 'body fatigue' is expected, also; he hasn't played, and he's building up stamina, as you could see him breathing hard pretty early in the game vs. Brazil. Should he get that (stamina) back with more playing time? Sure, but if he had played the full game, there would be plenty of people whining about him being 'pushed too hard'...
He's easing back into the game. Plain and simple.
If he was to say, ''Yeah, my knees are sore, they hurt, that's why I'm taking a day (or two or three) off..'', he'd be crucified for that, too.
It's kind of funny, though, that you were pretty damn defensive of people ''hating'' on Lebron James, for reasons that were pretty damn petty (going back to Cleveland), and for not having much knowledge of what they were talking about, and yet, here you go...big surprise.
I get that you don't ''care'' about Rose. I get that you don't but the ''body fatigue'' excuse. What I will say, though, is the simple fact that he's not going to be able to go at full speed, 100%, full game, without having fatigue due to a lack of activity (game excursion >>> practice/2 on 2), and to call it ''lame'' is, well, pretty ''lame'' in itself.

This is a lot of writing when I said from the very beginning that this might not be a big deal at all.

There's a big difference between ''this might not be a big deal at all'', and ''he's just lame''...

''Just trying to protect myself, just knowing that this is a long, long schedule and this is the most basketball I'll be playing in two years,'' Rose said.
''I want to be out there, but at the same time my health is the No. 1 issue right now.''
Seems like a smart choice to me.
what i dont get about this is why - if it was planned - the Rose camp wasnt more open about it.
every single step of the way has been scrutinized because neither Rose nor the bulls have come out and openly set forth a plan. do they have to do that? of course not, but if they would have, for example, just said he was out for the year the past couple of years, it would have been so much easier for Rose to worry about rehab and basketball instead of media backlash and controversy.
if im Derrick Rose, im doing everything short of emailing my daily itinerary for the next 18 months to every reporter i can think of. then we can avoid this ROSE IS HURT WAS IT PLANNED WHY IS HE RESTING WILL HE BE THE SAME OR IS THIS PART OF REHAB stuff.
