I bought 11 long boxes for 175. I didn't go through them really but all were packed and looked to be mostly 90 ' s comics. All had bags and boards. Looking forward to getting them home

I might have to try this. I don't know much about comics, but next time I go to a yard/garage sell I will look!

Local silent auction ALWAYS has long boxes filled with various stuff. Sometimes it's actually sorted (all Wolverine box, all Batman box) but most of the time it's just completely random. If you can pick em up cheap it's like a lottery ticket just way more entertaining.

Just found a Luke Cage hero for hire #1 . Lots of Superman. Uncanny xmen 192 -340 I think. Most are unread as I think someone was prospecting as there are several issues of the same comics. There are several Deadpool starting in the teens. Only 3 boxes down. Will keep you updated

That is why I tell people if they are 25 or less per box, grab them
Most auctions, boxes bring a minimum of 55.00 per box. Then again, that depends on how close and often your auctions are

The local one closes on the last Saturday of the month. Often has an assortment of long boxes and then individual issues. They've actually gotten some key issues in before (ASM 129 like 2 months ago). Even the all batman box didn't hit 55 bucks. The random crap box is lucky to hit 25. Don't get me wrong we have some killer local comic shops that do a good business but overall interest is down to the point where all of them had to branch out or specialize to survive. You can get some good deals. Sometimes though, not so much lol

It may be the fact you have comic shops and they are in the know and they are pushing boxes. Who knows.
The shops here do not go to auctions as they cannot afford much beyond rent it seems. 1 shop can no longer house new books and lost most of it's pull clients and the other does only pull boxes and his back stock is from the last 8 years and the golden age or silver age are mostly junker 2.00 books priced at 10-20

Comics are ripe here. You can throw comics out for .50 a book at a yard sale, a pile of 50-60 (over saturation is a no-no,wait for someone to ask if you have more) and 1-2 people will come along and buy them all, then you throw another stack out.
Then again, I am in North Georgia...and you are in limbo :P

Ergo the "Limbo" remark as I had no idea, well, no one did, so addressing the demographics, if any, for your area would be pretty tough :P

Oie
41 auction houses within 100 miles of Allentown......
That would be why. Too many people dumping crap through them have killed it I would assume.

Ever see boxes with a 20.00 book on top that are taped shut ? See them trying that here with ball cards all the time ;)

EDIT::::

LOL

41 within 30 miles.....179 within 100 miles HAHAHAHA

You would have to drive to Charlestown,WA before you would hit reasonably "safe" grounds and only fi someone is not already doing it there.
Man that does suck. Auction houses are fun and a good way to move off unwanted books to flea market dealers
It's a nice way to offset costs

:)! That HfH could pay for the whole lot if it's in nice shape!
Please post pics of the good stuff when you get through them all!!!

Touché good sir I'll have to update my info. 41 sounds about right lol. Didn't know it was that high but knew we had a lot. You should see the number of flea markets and antique stores. We're like in the middle of the Mecca of old junk ville.

No its not the middle of no where, but most people flock to the indoor flea market I find a lot of stuff on Craigslist and Allentown people are the worst to deal with a lot don't speak English. I am 35 mins northeast of you and frequent the area a lot...Casino, friends off Cedercrest what not

Yeah about half of Allentown does not speak English at a level you can understand. Since I don't speak Spanish it's really a pain at times.

Depending on condition, that Luke Cage might pay for the entire lot:p Nice find! Hitting a possible 266 would be a nice find also:)

If you happen upon an Infinity Gauntlet run, let a brother know:)

I live in north GA, & yes -- deals are few because of deep pockets.
