Has anyone taken one of their Flawless diamond base /20 cards to a jeweler to see how expensive the diamond itself is worth?
I know diamond value depends a lot on type, clarity and weight -- but I didn't know if we had an approximate value of those diamonds.
Thanks! :)

I think someone had looked into this with last years and came back with a value of $5-20, I believe?

They are not ring-worthy diamonds.

You can literally buy these kind of diamonds for $1 a piece; I'm sure they bought them wholesale from a jeweler for even less.

Diamonds aren't actually rare, just gemstone quality.

I think they were cool during last year's release but it was akward to see the same gem in both the regular base /20 and the 1/1s. This year having 5 versions instead of 3... Not so cool

Someone said they're not actually all diamonds, and that the stone is a (similarly low quality) sapphire, ruby, or emerald depending on the color variation.
Any confirmation?

$1 diamonds. Wow.
So the only value of last year's /20 diamond cards is the first time of putting a stone in a card. Similar to the gold put in the gold standard cards?

The value comes from the fact that there are only 20 of them and they come out if a $1500+ a box product

The cost of the diamond in flawless is irrelevant. It's like saying any card is only worth as much as the cardboard it's printed on. And we all pay a lot for cardboard sometimes. Lol
It's all about subject matter, demand and rarity.

I suggest next year Flawless contains a blood sample from each player.
Ready to assemble into cardboard.

The diamond on last year's Flawless was worth at $10 max, some even valued $3 a pop. The $10 diamond has better grades or specs....Put a $5-10 diamond on a base card and the value goes as high as $2K
Even the emerald also costs about the same

Well how about the shilled exquisite ugly base that has NO diamond or anything on it??? Just imagine how much these will be shilled for in the future.....
It's all about the card, and the fact they're /20, and come from the most expensive and beautiful brand of all time. The diamond is just a sweet bonus, and adds class to this already classy set.

Yes now that you mention Exquisite LoL, all are driven by demands, sure the diamond will be the "added value" for the base card I personally want the Shaq base :D still cravin' for it but can't yet since it is still so expensive. Probably these base cards will settle down a bit and stable down. It is all about innovation, what I wrote up there was the common misconception that the diamond in the card is expensive by itselves.
Never the less Flawless is a great set IMHO.

You posted a link that it totally unrelated to the size of the stones in these cards.
So while these are not "valuable" stones, to imply that these are $1 stones is clearly incorrect.

Yeah he hasn't seen any in person im guessing because they are much more clearer and cut better than those (not saying they are gem quality). But i think they will bring more than $1 each if taken out. Also if you looked this years 1 of 1 diamonds are actually bigger than the base diamonds /20, so i have no idea what those would be worth. Again it doesn't even matter because its not the diamonds that make the card anyway
i heard the emerald are worth two fiddy

Exactly diamond or no diamond these cards would sell for the same price
