So my 6 1/2 year old son has been obsessed with Star Wars the past few months ever since he watched the 6 movies and the Rebels cartoon
So being a card collector myself I bought him 2 boxes off of Blowout: Chrome & Jedi Legacy
The break started out pretty decent but ended with great disappointment
Jedi Legacy:
Young Anikan Green Parallel
Luke Skywalker Single Film Cell
Jabba Sail Barge Relic
Chrome:
Darth Vador Gold Refractor 29/50
Obi Wan Helmet relic
Boba Fett Helmet relic
As you can see the problem is that we got 2 manufactured helmet relics and not a 2nd premium hit!
Yes we had fun opening these cards, but feel very ripped not get a sketch, 1/1 or auto when the box clearly states you get 1 helmet relic and 1 other hit
The Jedi Legacy box was only $45, so i feel we easily got our value for that box, however for $115 for the Chrome box, we certainly did not.
I plan on contacting Topps and sending in the needed items to get a replacement, however if it's anything like their sports card missing hits replacement, I am prepared for the worst possible hit or nothing at all!
Maybe if I tell them the sob story of how this is my sons first break and how much he was looking forward to this and was letdown, which is all very true.
Anyway wanted to post and get your thoughts and feedback.

Yup, a very common thing with Chrome. If you compare the two medallions, it is likely that one of the two is the gold variation.

Yeah I first thought that, but both are just the base medallions
Plus the way the box is worded, it should not matter if you get a gold one, the other hit is not supposed to be a medallion
These cheap hits should not even count in a box that costs $115 or more!

I know some people who got 30-60$ sketch cards as replacements.

Sail barge is of Nysad so probably one of the lower ones
Also if I get a sketch card as a replacement, that would be good enough for me

Well, to be fair, these were something like $65/box from distributors, less directly from Topps, upon release. There was this 3 week period of time where this product was viewed as greater than air, and the larger dealers were likely buying anything people wanted to sell for $100/box, or so. Now, they're stuck trying to recoup cost on a product where your situation is an unfortunate occurrence with some regularity. They really won't lower prices since they've got so much in it and, the catch is, most will avoid it due to the possibility of the double medallion boxes, etc. Still, it can't hurt to send in the info. to Topps and see if they'll help you out.

It was apparently such a big problem that Topps ran out of replacement cards from Chrome. When I made my claim from getting double medallioned a couple of months ago I was sent 2 sketch cards from Galaxy 7.

It does seem like quality control is getting worse across all lines of products, when you think it would be getting better as technology hopefully improves. This is obviously just my observation and not facts to prove it, but feel like many would agree with me.

I'm sorry about your missing hit. The same thing happened to me and Topps sent a replacement sketch. They may have to send you a sketch from another Star Wars product, but as long as your are polite and follow their missing hit procedures, they will send you something. All the information can be found on the website.
