His off field actions speak louder than his on field actions. Such a classy guy, always been a fan of since he was a Badger. T

He is the definition of a class act.

Yep guy has come far from having deliver pizza's himself in college to make ends meet. When he is done he will be in the Decon Jones, Reggie White, Bruce Smith level of best ever DL.

A positive NFL story? They are few and far between, but need to be reported more.

Right? All we hear is about Rice, Peterson, and the violent stuff that nobody want to hear anymore. I'd rather hear about this to be honest. It's the little things that can make or help someone's day, and JJ Watt probably just did it for these firefighters

Why would the media want to shed good light on anyone? It seems all they get off on is dragging any and everyone through the dirt.

I guess I'll be the Debbie downer here...
...so Watt had pizzas delivered to firefighters and police officers? Big deal.
I love Watt, but you can't just assume that this was just some selfless act of kindness. He (or his PR team) probably figured that word would get out about this and all the great publicity it would generate for him. Stuff like this helps Watt's brand and you guys are the prime example of the folks who gobble it up.
Again, I love Watt and this is a cute little gesture on his part. But come on...look a little deeper.

Still better then 99% of players who only get news for what law they broke.

you clearly haven't followed his career at all. he does things like this on a regular basis and has since he entered the league. It is possible the guy is just a good guy. no pr concern

Guys Watt could have ordered these pizzas and had them delivered anonymously without anyone knowing it was him. Think about that.
Just some food for thought.

And it would've made a much less awesome story for the guys at the station to tell. Free pizza from someone anonymous? Cool. Free pizza from JJ Watt? Freaking awesome.

He is hands down my favorite player ever in the NFL. And if its just a PR stunt, then his PR manager would be the richest guy in the NFL cause every player would sign him up.
Even it is just for PR, this undoubtedly made a bunch of firefighters and policemens days, so its a win win for everyone. Good people do good things, bad people do bad things. If you pretend to be a good person and do good things all the time, at what point does it stop becoming an act and that's just who you are?
If we found out today that everything done by every good person was only done to make them look better, does that make them a bad person all of a sudden? I would never consider him anything but the best role model a player could ever have until I hear otherwise.

It seems like you know very little about J.J. Watt.
He is just an extremely wealthy guy who likes to share his good fortune with others in many various ways.
"Making it rain", gaudy bling or a Ferrari is not his style.

It doesn't matter that you question what he did. It was cool and I'm sure the firefighters and police officers enjoyed it which is all that matters.
Not sure why you had to play devil's advocate. Doesn't seem like something that needed a negative vibe attached to it but mission accomplished for you.

i live in houston and he is always doing things like this. meet him once and just a really nice guy. New contract or not there are much cheaper ways to get pr. there are a crap ton of HFD and HPD stations in Houston. This was done for every single station both fire and police. I think with all of the negativity surrounding police with the situation in Missouri. That he wanted to say hey there are plenty of good ones out there protecting our streets.

And the stories of all this wonderful stuff he's done is out there for people to see, hence the links you've provided.
And people like you love him for it. That's fine.
Meanwhile, Watt reaps all the positive press for this stuff he does.
Let me be clear - I'm not saying all this stuff Watt has done isn't good for the individuals he's helped. I'm just saying he is reaping all the benefits for doing these things as well. The good deeds he's done have made for great stories, and people love that. People eat it up and can't seem to get enough. That is great for Watt's reputation. You can't deny that. Do you honestly believe he's not aware of that?
I'm just simply saying that Watt is benefiting from all he's done for other people as well, probably just as much if not more than the people's he's helped.

He gets paid to play football well. He could be the biggest dick but as long as he is that monster on the field he is he will continue getting paid. Just not seeing all the "benefits" he is gaining from being a decent human being.

You are right in that I'd rather have Watt doing all these great things than to be a dick, as you say.
I think a lot of you are missing the point. Does all of the great things Watt's done not boost his reputation? Does it not make fans love him even more? Of course it does.
That is all I'm saying. He knows the spotlight is on him.
