Hwllo fellow collectors,

Just need an advice from the experts in this forum :)

Last month I acquired an auto Shaq Card from a collector on ebay, I submitted a best offer (still a hefty amount of $) and it was accepted, I was very happy to finally get his card. Once I got it in hand I immediately send it to Beckett Grading Service in hope to get a minimum of 8.5 grade and to preserve the card better.

Yesterday I got the card back, it was authentic BUT altered. I was quite upset, the note was written "Evidence of Recoloring on Edges/Corners/Surfaces" and with a diagram of 3 (three) marks on 3 front corners.

I mean I have been looking this card since forever, it was only 10 copies ever circulated; but the "news" just hit me in the stomach....

I already contacted the seller about his, I sent him the photos of the grades and the notes from BGS.

What do you think I should do? Just swallow the pill or else?

Maybe ask for a partial refund & keep the card since it's so rare.

The seller responded quickly and offer a partial refund or a full refund though. He acquired this card from other hands, probably it changed ownership several times already....

I'd ask for maybe 20% back and take no less than 10%

would love to see what this card is! depending on how rare it is and how much you want the card, a partial refund seems fair. Ive kept some damaged cards in my PC but got em for a fraction (though still significant) of a nm/mt copy would be.

I would examine it pretty thoroughly to see if you agree with BGS. If you do not agree, I would tend to re-submit it. What is the financial incentive to re-color this card? Is most of the value not in the auto and rarity as opposed to the condition?

How dare you say that about bgs.

I don't think anyone on their grading staff has even a high school degree. Ok maybe one.

Get the partial refund and use the medical mentality........send it in to another grading company for a "second opinion" If they say the same thing then you know BGS is probably right. If they grade it then turn around and send it to BGS for a crossover.

Thanks for all the comments and advice all, here's the scans, I accepted the partial refund. The Seller is a nice guy, he communicates very well

Only 10 copies in the series, and I never come across one beside this one since it's releases...

See, I knew it... Who would re-color this card?

Bgs doesn't know what they are talking about

LOL why would someone color the bottom left corner. BGS are sketchy as usual
you'd be more concerned about the streaky auto anyway
you're very lucky to get any sort of refund. to be honest i'd feel embarrased to accept a refund

I guess I was lucky then, I just informed the condition to the seller and he offered me the solutions.....
