The original BuyBack autographs in 2014-15 Paramount Basketball pay tribute to Panini America‘s brief but monumental history as the exclusive NBA trading card manufacturer,
LOVE IT. This Tracy guy is better than Iraq's comical Ali. Keep up the great work Tracy. Keep believing the BRAND.

Why would a company that has been producing nba cards for only like 5 years already having buybacks? Dumb dumb idea.

How the hell does Panini have buyback autos of guys that have outstanding redemptions? Why would you not have them sign a stack of cards they're behind on... how does Prizm have sticker autos live when there are sticker redemptions waiting from 13-14 products? It would blow my mind, if I didn't already expect as much.

Get in line man, they have the cards in stock the majority of times. They just don't have time or give a crap to ship them.
You have to be on a special list it seems

Apparently... after I saw the stickers in Prizm I asked for replacements for 10 Kobe/Kyrie/Durant cards and they told me they didn't have anything and to try back in February. I'm definitely not on their list... at least the one I want to be on.

What a bunch of recycled crap... The only reason buy backs are popular with UD is because the cards feature the player in nba uniform in an unlicensed nba product... These look stupid and are celebrating all the useless brands they couldn't sell? Lol

I bet they got stickers to certify them on the back. But ya if they sell for enough I am sure someone will try to work a scam. I think they will sell nice but not 1k or more.
They kinda look IP to me man
I think that is kinda the point

the celebrating the brand angle is really stupid ya and that is not why people will buy them.
Now for some more of my thoughts in general
I think these are miles better than a lot of the sticker autos they have out there and these are probably just a bonus in a few of the cases. I don't think these will drive the product but that remains to be seen. Pretty similar to almost every other buyback I have ever seen if you ask me.

This is awful.
It's one thing when UD does it with sets from 10-15 years ago that were iconic and beautiful.
But ugly Panini sets from only a few years ago that were overproduced and under-designed? YUCK.
Panini, put some effort into your new designs and limit production ... stop being lazy.
I really want to like Panini. They have the ability to do great, huge things. But they fail so hard and so often, and all based on greed.
Meh.

I was thinking that too. Problem is it would be hard to do that in this product as it would be pretty obvious which pack had the buyback.
After reading some comments and thinking about it some more. I guess it is a pretty bad idea. They should have bought back some stickers they made in the 80s and 90s (you know the ones for the albums) and got those autographed and graded and sent them out as redemptions or something. Just a thought if they wanted to do some cheap buyback gimmick.
Edit wowow no way $240 they better have some nice stuff besides they 1/1 buybacks if they plan on selling

first of all, this product is not 'already getting some buzz' because it has dufex. no one cared about dufex in 1995, no one cares about it in 2015. its even more idiotic because 13-14 pinnacle had a ton of dufex. but this one is supposed to be the 'true' dufex. thats moronic.
anyway buy-back cards never sell as high as a regular auto /3, /2, /1 would sell for because a large percentage of collectors either think they are fake, or just arent interested as much. the problem is much of the time the auto is written over an already dark area, making it hard to see the auto clearly. i guess its an ok thing to have in a product, its nothing that will drive product sales or something like that. $240 on this product as has been said before, absolutely unbelievable.
Yep, it's $240 a box presale. That's just ridiculous, I won't be touching it with a ten foot pole. Court Kings looks better than this, at $65 a box.
It's basically exactly the same configuration and price as Preferred so I'm not sure why people are so surprised with the cost.

It should have been done on rookies and cards featuring moments like milestone and MVPs. Although to be fair, I believe UD was doing buybacks in 1997 which was only six years after they started.

Buyback... I would love to see the receipts where they actually bought these... lol ... they just walked into their warehouse and grabbed a stack of cards and said sign these...
It should be called "retreads," or "garbage displacment," or "please help us we look like hoarders with all these unsold commons." Definitely not "buybacks."

I dig the UD 90's buybacks but I'm not a big fan of this. Seems a little to soon for these and most of these cards are low end sets that weren't that popular in the first place.
I do like the way the Contenders cards looked signed by Birdman and Shaq. I wish they'd use the 2012 or 2013 football design and make a set like that.

Maybe I just like it for UD because its a way to get around the licensing issues.

I 100% agree with this, let's just thank God UD doesn't have a monopoly, it's rough now, but could you imagine how horrible it would be if it was UD.
Buybacks are usually pretty shotty and only work well with certain cards. Personally if I wanted a bunch of base/inserts signed I'd do IP or TTM.

I think in the case of that Bo card the auto works with the design and it's actually a rookie. But that's more the exception than the rule. For me buybacks just aren't a draw. I might be more accepting of them if they were truly "historic" or "important" cards. But more often of not they're just signed base cards.

I just think that it's very overpriced, it should be $75-$100 a box. That's just my opinion though. It's like a high end pinnacle, very bland. It will sit on the shelves for a long time, like 95% of the other junky Panini products.

Hard signed autos of who? Fat Lever? With a Kobe, Durant, or good rookie auto 1 per case? They will also throw in a jumbo Walmart jersey card, worth an extra $2. A good autograph probably wouldn't cover the box price.

Grant Hill, Shaq and D. Rob have actual signed cards already in Past & Present. Buybacks have no place on cards from products that already had autos in them, unless it's something worthy of being signed.
The one way I would be okay with this is if they were having significant cards autographed...like Knights of the Round or Playmakers or some of the CK case hits. But really... just make a better product.
Product Designer 1: "Um... we're out of new design ideas, let's just release all of our surplus old stock into a new product. We'll bring back Dufex as well, it'll be retro... it's working for Upper Deck. "
Product Designer 2: "Collectors are smarter than that, they'll notice. "
Product Designer 1: "What if we get them signed? Do you think they'll notice?"
Product Designer 2 *long pause* "Brilliant!"
...
Does anyone think Panini actually 'bought back' any of these cards?

I am glad that I am not the only one who notice this. It seems like people are so used to paying $75 per on card auto as the going rate. If the box is $100 and has two autos, it must be stickers.
