Btw, this is not my card, but I wish it was. I would have bid on it if I saw it. Very nice price too. The buyer got a steal IMO.
When was the last time you saw a Superfractor from this year? Only 110 in the set.

Dreaming of the "Good 'ole days".
Topps is just as guilty as Panini when it comes to parallels. Here's a sampling of Bowman Draft from this year. 2 1/1s for each player and a bazillion Parallels. 22 versions of each card not including plates.
PARALLEL CARDS: Blue #/399, Green #/75, Orange #'d, Red #'d, Black 1/1 (Hobby), Printing Plates 1/1
ICE PARALLEL CARDS: Silver Ice, Red Ice #/150, Purple Ice #/99, White Ice #'d (Hobby), Orange Ice #/25 (Jumbo)
CHROME PARALLEL CARDS: Base, Refractor, Blue Refractor #/399, Green Refractor #/150, Black Refractor #/75 (Hobby), Gold Refractor #/50, Orange Refractor #/25, Red Refractor #/5, SuperFractor 1/1, Printing Plates 1/1
CHROME WAVE PARALLEL CARDS: Black Wave, Blue Wave, Silver Wave #/25, Red Wave #/25
They're also guilty of multiple 1/1s in Dynasty. The days of few parallels are over.

There's a reason the first year's Prizm did so well. Simple and rare. Created demand, hype and value.
It's what people wanted. But then they went ahead and destroyed it with the following releases. Now it's all just awful, and even those original values were affected greatly. (Same with Totally Certified, etc.)

Selective memory. In 08-09 topps had 4 plates 1/1, Base refractor, Orange, xfractor, Gold, and superfractor. This is just one year, I'm guessing they did it more. Then look at how they did it with finest and bowman chrome. It doesn't bother me, but to point blame at only panini is ignorant.

What's the problem, the cards look good? Is it a resale problem? Is it one of those things where people are pulling the cards and saying this is a sweet hit but when they look at what they're selling for on eBay, they then hate it? For me, I like the variety.

A Topps Superfractor is 90% the same thing as a base card.
My point is not to defend Panini or the number of parallels. My point is that all the companies are doing it now. Topps is just as bad and sometimes even worse with parallels. I just see a lot of the "grass is greener" comments - that are based on years gone by and not the current state of the hobby across all sports and all companies.
I was in no way knocking the OP for wishing for a single 1/1. I'd prefer that every time as well. I was simply stating that those days are gone - at least for now.

And yet, I don't even see anyone has problem with base 1/1 and superfractor. Funny right? Because NO ONE even thinks those two 1/1s are the same! Superfractor is a class of its own.
So now, tell me which prizm black is the "better" one? If no, the black is just /2 to me. Same for the gold, they are just /20 with fake rarity.

Except Bowman Draft is two products in one. Paper and Chrome. That's how Topps did it in basketball, too. You got Bowman and Bowman Chrome in the same pack. They're not even considered the same set by purists. The Black is the Paper 1/1 and the Super is the Chrome 1/1.
Dynasty, sure. They combined Flawless with their old Sterling variations.

I think Topps Chrome struck a good balance with the number of parallels. Using 08-09 as an example, there were regular refractors, orange, gold, xfractor, and superfractor. I am a fan of a few parallels, so I thought this was a good amount. 12-13 Prizm was great, with the regular Prizms, gold, and green in retail. I wish they would have stuck more closely to that combination.

Look, there is nothing wrong with people care about the future value of their cards. The potential to appreciate in value is part of the collecting..sure it is not the only reason but in any hobby, scarcity, authenticity and aesthetic are all vital components. IF you like variety so much, then why not just create and print your own flashy cards, some people are doing that. The "hate" with Panini is that fact that they falsely advertise their products rarity by printing so many of supposedly "rare" hits. Sure, other companies do it, such as topps, but Panini is doing it to extreme, and it can be said that Topps is doing so in order to compete with Panini. The fact that Panini number every single of their card to short printed but come out with ten different slight variations is a gimmick and collectors don't appreciate them playing this game any longer.

I miss early Topps Chrome but later on they started to produce too many variations too.
Panini has taken parallels and overpriced "high-end" products and ran with it. Basically, all the greedy manipulative tactics that other companies have used over the years are now on steroids. They are flooding the market with this stuff to the point of absurdity. The fact that people continue to collect this modern stuff blows my mind. We need to bring some sanity and restraint back to the hobby .

Oh man I remember trading for the Deron Williams superfractor like this when I was in high school. I had two DWill supercollectors going back and forth with offers...Ended up getting a nice chunk of change for it. Which I then proceeded to spend on all sorts of stupid stuff I didn't need....those were the days. I hope a DWill collector somewhere still has it...was a real nice card!

That's called investing. It might be just as fun for investors to buy cards as investments as it is for collectors to collect, but it's investing. There's a fine line between buying to invest and collecting regardless of potential value down the line.
Have the Curry or Harden surfaced? I don't keep track of this set but I read somewhere that the Curry was yet to be pulled. Maybe just someone trying to unload an unopened box/packs of 09-10 Topps

Let me just use a different product then to illustrate if you don't like that one. How about i update with 2015 Bowman Draft.
2015 Bowman Draft Baseball Set Checklist
PAPER PARALLEL CARDS: Silver #/499, Blue #/150, Green #/99, Gold #/50, Orange #/25 (Hobby), Red #/5, Metallic 1/1, Printing Plates 1/1
CHROME PARALLEL CARDS: Refractor, Sky Blue Refractor, Blue Refractor #/150, Green Refractor #/99, Gold Refractor #/50, Orange Refractor #/25 (Hobby), Red Refractor #/5, SuperFractor 1/1, Printing Plates 1/1
So in Draft there are 10 1/1 parallels if you (like Topps) include the 1/1 printing plates. Point being, as i first stated - it's not a Panini thing - it's an industry thing.

04-05 topps finest!! The set that broke the mold! The first set I remember that really over did it with colors and parallels! This set was the very definition of all the sets with multiple parallels/colors/1of1s ever made!! If I'm not mistaken there was framed, white, black, gold, green, blue, red and base refractors! Each with their own xfractors variations, their own superfractor and 1of1 x-fractor variation!!!! The multiple variations sold very well at first until everyone realized it was just over production. This set was produced over 10 years ago and predates any panini product with an over abundance of parallels! I have pretty much stopped collecting since panini took over, and I miss topps and UD products greatly but it's really unfair to blame panini. The major thing I have noticed from panini is when they do make a great product, they ruin it the next year by overproducing it.
