Despite having never played in a game at the collegiate level, Ohio State’s fourth-string quarterback has become the odds-on candidate to go No. 1 overall in the 2015 NFL Draft.

“I don’t know what his name is, what he looks like or how big or small he may be, but he must be awesome,” said Tampa Bay Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht. “Ohio State’s quarterbacks just get better and better as you go down the depth chart. Ohmigod! Do you think they have a fifth-string quarterback? He must be amazing!”

The Buckeyes won the first College Football Playoff in impressive fashion behind third-string quarterback Cardale Jones, who went from no-name to legit 1st Round prospect. But savvy NFL scouts quickly moved past him to even greater riches on the Buckeyes roster.

“Urban Meyer is a hell of a coach, but he obviously doesn’t know anything about evaluating quarterback talent,” said Ruston Webster, GM of the Titans, who have the No. 2 pick. “While we love the 4th-string guy, whatever his name is, I’m wondering if there’s a quarterback Meyer cut from the team. That kid is probably the greatest quarterback ever.”

Yet some NFL scouts are not as high on Ohio State’s fourth-stringer, a player no one knows anything about or if he even exists.

“The Buccaneers using the No. 1 overall pick on a fourth-string college quarterback?” said a rival GM. “Yeah, that sounds about right.”

Does the Heisman invite list have to expand if you just invite Braxton, Cardale, Barrett, and Zeke? Is there a spot for anyone else? Or do you just have 4 Buckeyes show up?

...and this is a reason why I dislike OSU fans... they always think they are above everyone else.

I'm trying to remember the last Ohio State QB to do anything in the NFL, I can't think of one...maybe cause none of them have ever done anything.

Exactly what you don't draft Jameis Winston. I mean he clearly sucks when you compare him to EJ Manuel, Christan Ponder, or Chris Weinke.

Oh that goes for Mariota as well since he might as well be Akili Smith, Dennis Dixon, or Joey Harrington.

They are all the same players.

Brad Johnson disagrees.

Busting out the 25 year old reference. Always quality.

You forgot Kellen Clemens between Harrington and Dixon.

Yeah if your going to use that comparison you better start reaching back at Alabama to find a QB whose done anything really in the pros also. It's not like quality QBs churn out from any school that do anything in the pro game or for any position in all honesty.

Drafting the position is a nightmare...

I am just baffled with how many QB's go in the first round...

But I guess when there is only 10 great NFL QB's in the world...

The position is worth the risk trying to find the next
