I've been thinking about building an auto set, but I can't decide.
I just want them to be good looking cards.

I'm not too experienced with what was released pre 2010, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

I would like it to be a Vet set and on card.

OR..

A good Rookie class. I was toying with 2007 Contenders, but not on card, thoughts?
I guess on card is not a must, but preferred.

Thanks guys :)!

Do you want patch autos or not? Try 2012 Topps Rookie Premiere /90s if not. Great class and good looking cards that hold decent value.

Edit: also, there's enough of them that it's doable to complete, but rare enough that it will be a challenge.

Ring of Honor from Topps. Rare, clean, and a set full of historical SB players.

2001 Donruss Classics Significant Signatures or 2000 Fleer Greats of the Game

I agree with Ring of Honor above, but it's tough to find them.

Other choices are NT NFL Greatest from 2012, Spectra HOF (need multiple cards from multiple Panini sets to complete - all cards have not been released), Veteran Autos from 2012 or 2013 Five Star.

2012 Prime Signatures is a good one if you like the clean, white background look. Not as much as a set like NT will cost and you get a lot of on-card autos of the premier rookies from 2012, including Luck, Wilson, RG3, etc.

This one is the /25, but /149 is the base set:

Hard to go wrong with Crown Royale Silhouette autos. Some of the best designs, clean patches, on card autos. Plus, they include low numbered veteran autos on card.

It you want to shoot for the moon - 1998 Upper Deck Legends of the Game autos are pretty much the greatest set ever.

A very underrated set would 2001 Finest Greatest Moments Autos. Some of the coolest cards out there. Everyone from Joe Montana's SB MVP performance to Frank Wycheck's Music City Miracle to Mike Jones tackling Kevin Dyson at the 1 is found in this set.

I think he means 1997 Upper Deck Legends. Finest greatest moments are a beautiful set but most of the autos are already fading.
2001 SP Authentic SOTT or the 2000 UD greats jersey autos would be my choices. I am biased to the 2001 sp authentic, though

Contenders Rookie Ink. Its a fairly cheap set that is mostly on card autos. No vet autos unfortunately.
