Goran Dragic has been traded to the Heat, according to multiple sources.
The deal is being finalized and details have yet to emerge, but previous reports suggest that Phoenix will get two first-round picks in exchange for Dragic, who demanded a trade due to unhappiness with his role. He gives the Heat a huge upgrade at point guard and makes them a more dangerous playoff team, and his fantasy value should surge with less competition in Miami. His departure from Phoenix is also terrific news for anyone who owns Isaiah Thomas, as IT3 will now take over the starting PG job alongside Eric Bledsoe.

The Miami Heat received Goran Dragicand Zoran Dragicfrom the Phoenix Suns for Danny Granger, Norris Cole, Justin Hamilton, Shawne Williams and two first-round picks. I knew about the Morris brothers...but 4 brothers!!! On the Pheonix Suns until today. That's a first for me.
Riley comes through with the goods again.

The only problem is that Wade's knees are about as good as useless these days.

The NBA is messing their pants at the thought of a Heat vs. Cavs matchup at any point during the Playoffs.
Kyrie vs. Dragic
Smith (or perhaps Shumpert) vs. Wade
LeBron vs. Deng
Love vs. Bosh
Mozgov vs. Whiteside

Imagine the return the Suns coulda had if they werent painted into a corner by Dragic?

Dragic is 5 months from signing a 5 year max deal. I'd avoid that contract like the plague. Even with the increased cap in mind, theres no way he's gonna be worth the 25 million he gets when he's 34.
He's not a great 3 pt shooter. Last year looks like an outlier. Those kinda guards tend to age poorly.

Bingo. The press in AZ right now is trying to paint Dragic as a selfish player who doesn't care about winning. What a f**king joke. They are just covering for the Suns front office and how bad they botched things up.
PHX got a decent return for him but now they are trading everyone. From the outside it looks like they are out of control. I'm interested to see what happens when the smoke clears.

Goran is a HUGE upgrade over what they had (Chalmers isn't a true pg, and well...Napier is just NOT good and his draft stock was boosted by his college team's run, imo). Goran should do very well there, especially since Wade is so injury prone, so he can fill the scoring void if need be.
Suns just have absolutely zero clue on how to utilize pg's. It's been a pg-by-committee system since Nash left. No bueno.

yea, i like chalmers. he gets a lot of heat (pun intended) but hes definitely a serviceable backup, and prior to the finals last year he played very well (in which case the entire team was crap except lbj). heck, with wade out, chalmers was the only person that would ever attack the rim and draw fouls, now at least dragic can do that, and with chalmers going against backups instead of starters, he may have even more success.

Backup SG some nights he will start hot and give the team 15 points off the bench and get more minutes, other nights he will get 5-6 points and Tyler Johnson will get to play.
I wish the Heat would give Beasley another chance as we need bench scoring but thats for another thread

Name some PGs that were successful in their mid 30s with an average to below average 3 pt shot. Name one worth the max.
Kidd is the only one that comes to mind, but Dragic isn't as skilled, and Kidd developed a pretty good 3pt shot the last third of his career. He also wasn't worth the max.
This is a great short term move that could, and probably will, hurt in the long term.

He's only 28. If he was 35 now Id be concerned. Im thrilled that the Heat made some moves instead of just riding things out instead of waiting until 2016
Heat havent been built around a scoring PG since Tim Hardaway so thats just a bonus

I totally understand Dragic is a very good PG and his role and usage on Phoenix got really skewed this year when they surprisingly brought in Isiah Thomas. That said, I'm at a loss with all this fawning going over Riley and the Heat as if he just landed Anthony Davis, Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, James Harden, Kyrie Irving, John Wall, Marc Gasol, Damian Lillard, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love, Andrew Wiggins, etc. It was Goran Dragic, whom I've already said is a very good player but this hyperbolic praising is head scratching. Saw all the writers (not fan posters) on RealGM say the Heat are now instant title contenders (pre Bosh news) really? Because of Dragic? Simmons losing his mind saying they have the best starting 5 in the East now?? Did everyone forget about the Hawks, Cavs, Raptors and Bulls? Sorry Wizards just don't see it this year. What am I missing about Dragic joining the Heat that is going to make them a threat to win the East now (pre Bosh news of course). Wade can barely play as it is, they traded what little depth they had to make this and the Norris Cole trade happen. Is Hassan Whiteside really going to continue to put up Moses Malone numbers and learn not to foul as much? Was Bosh going to magically get back on track because if you look at his production there is a clear line of good and not so good that coincides with the arrival of Whiteside. Was he going to get better and Whiteside be damned and meanwhile Whiteside still continue to do what he had been doing? I get that Dragic is good and exactly what they needed, but already committing to maxing him this summer for 5 yrs/100+ million with old Wade, Bosh and Deng, is going to put them back on top now? Would anyone trade LeBron for Deng, Dragic and I suppose Whiteside in real NBA not fantasy? That's essentially what happened in Miami and the answer is no of course not, but after this trade Miami is the "favorite" in the East as per some national writers, huh? So you lose LeBron and replace him with good players but now have to go through LeBron and the Spurs East (Hawks) just to get to the finals. None of this adds up to me

Just because Wade is averaging 21ppg doesn't mean he's actually healthy or will be going forward. You are using a per game stat to prove what? That when he plays he can score, ok....
Here to give another perspective from a non Cleveland fan, since MiamiTrev is all about the Cavs. Speaking of the Cavs where you been in the Cavs threads lately since they are winning???

Wade has played more games this year than Durant this year but no one speculates if "he's actually healthy or will be going forward."
Since Im bored maybe I will go back through your post and break down how stupid it is line by line but for now I just wonder why you are trying to Shyt on the Heat. Its like you are worried about them beating the Cavs or something

they traded what little depth they had
Granger is the only "depth" they traded away and he can be replaced. Williams and Hamilton were just dead weight filler
Is Hassan Whiteside really going to continue to put up Moses Malone numbers and learn not to foul as much?
Hes played 25 games and hasnt fouled out yet. Im not clear on Malone #s but he is Avg 10 PPG and almost 9 RPG I bet he does keep those #s up as long as he plays Center
Was Bosh going to magically get back on track because if you look at his production there is a clear line of good and not so good that coincides with the arrival of Whiteside.
Bosh has actually been more productive since Whiteside arrived
Would anyone trade LeBron for Deng, Dragic and I suppose Whiteside in real NBA not fantasy
Now you are clearly reaching. Every team the NBA would want Lebron.
The question is really: Would you rather have Cole/Williams/Hamilton/Granger
(which is what the HEAT had to start the season) or Dragic/Whiteside. Answer is obvious...the trade made the Heat better

It could be the presence of Hassan Whiteside, or the mid-December calf strain that kept him out for eight games, but Chris Bosh has offered some unusually empty stat lines as of late. Sure, he's still scoring at a 20-ppg clip, and he's hitting 1.4 3-pointers per game, but he's averaged just 5.6 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.3 blocks in his past 19 games. To make matters worse, with his newfound 3-point shooting ability, Bosh's field goal percentage has hovered in the 43 to 44 percent range during that span. Essentially, his numbers look like a slightly less-efficient Dirk Nowitzki (who has been offering empty stat lines himself). Nowitzki has averaging 18.3 points, 6.0 boards, 0.5 steals, 0.5 blocks and 1.3 3-pointers on the season but remains a quality fantasy play thanks to his percentages.
Nice try though.

Who is driving this philosophy in PHX where they want 2 point guards starting together instead of a point guard and shooting guard? Why do they think this is a good idea? It worked so-so with Dragic and Bledsoe. It worked like crap with Dragic, Bledsoe and Thomas. Now we have Bledsoe and Knight who are both only about 6'1".
What the hell is going on in their front office? What are they trying to do?
