I was not surprised by most of the NBA trade deadline moves however I was really surprised that the next didn't try to turn Brook Lopez into some safer, younger talent. Who were you guys surprised to see stay with their teams?

Kevin Martin

What are the Wolves going to do with him? He's already 32.

Little surprised the celtics didnt move brandon bass. Also surprised brooklyn didnt jump all over the proposed jennings for johnson deal, I know the money situation played a part, but dumping that awful contract would have been the motivation I needed to get a deal done

Well being a Denver fan, I'll say Wilson Chandler. Were inn full blow up mode but our GM is a "huge Chandler fan" even though he goes missing in the middle of games for no reason whatsoever. He was almost a lock to move yet nobody is talking about it.

Poor Brandon Bass. Signed a team ride sky deal a few years ago trying to win a ring after being traded to Boston. He should have been moved even for a bag of balls. I'm shocked no one tried to grab him. Solid player that could help someone.

Kevin Martin

Flip has stated that he wasn't going to trade Martin. Look at their roster and combined years of experience

Andrew Wiggins-Rookie
Zach Lavine-Rookie
Adreian Payne-Rookie
Glen Robinson III-Rookie
Anthony Bennett-2nd year
Shabazz Muhammed-2nd year
Gorgui Deing-2nd year
Lorenzo Brown-2nd year
Ricky Rubio-4th year
Nikola Pekovic-5th year
Gary Neal-5th year
Chase Budinger-6th year
Kevin Martin-11th year
Kevin Garnett-20th year

Thats not a lot of experience when you have 8 players on your roster that is either a rookie or second year player. Flip said he wanted to keep Martin as a veteran presence in the locker room and on the court. Garnett and Martin almost have more combined NBA experience then the rest of the entire roster, so don't expect to see Martin go anywhere next season either.

I would have loved to see George Hill leave. His contract is terrible.

Gerald Green was rumored. He will be a UFA at the end of the season, but after the Suns moved half the team to get the young guys some PT, I'm not surprised he's playing out his contract. I doubt they received any great offers for him.

As bad as it is to be a Knick fan, it is way more confusing to be a Suns fan.

The fact that Kevin Garnet will get to be around those young guys for the rest of the year will turn out to.be a great move.

Brandon Jennings had been rumored out of Detroit for about a month now. Picking up Jackson would have seemed to cover that move . . . but it didn't happen.

Clearly you can't have both of those guys next season, though. So, maybe Jennings is insurance against Jackson signing elsewhere and gets dealt if they hang on to him?

An opposing coach wanting a player does not mean that player's current team magically wants to deal them.

I would have loved to see George Hill leave. His contract is terrible.

But it's better than Lawson's, at least IMO.

Can you trade people who's out for the season?

In terms of money, yes. I just prefer Lawson over Hill. 17 pts, 10 assists a game for Lawson.

I guess I'm a little sour on Lawson for a few reasons.

1) His contract ($25.6M due over the next 2 seasons vs. Hill's $16M over the next 2 seasons). I'm not the biggest George Hill fan but he's played pretty well this season and his contract isn't that terrible in the grand scheme of things. Do I think he's overpaid? Sure. But there are literally tons of guys who are overpaid. Hill's contract is at least movable, unlike Hibbert's.

2) His recent DUI arrest, less than a month ago. And no-showing the first practice after the All-Star break. He also had some issues back at North Carolina, if I recall correctly.

3) Inability to get along with Brian Shaw. When Shaw was an assistant with the Pacers the players loved him and he was known as "a player's coach". Hell he's a major reason Lance Stephenson was able to become such a contributor. I don't think it's a coincidence that once Shaw was gone, Lance started becoming a major distraction. If Shaw can not only get along with, but get through to a bonehead like Stephenson, and Lawson can't get along with him, I think that's a red flag.

best trade was the one that didnt happen. brook lopez for jackson and whatever else was a horrible trade for the nets. jackson is a 6th man combo guard. you dont trade probably the best offensive center in the league for that. especially when the alternate center, plumlee, has zero offense outside of 2 feet. of course lopez has to stay healthy, but hopefully his last surgery will fix that and he will be healthy the rest of his career like ilguaskas was. reggie jackson isnt worth 10-12 million a year, thats nearly what lopez makes, and lopez may opt out this summer and resign with the nets for more years at a little less salary.

Lance Stephenson although I can understand why teams wouldn't want him. Tobias Harris and Maurice Harkless managed to stay in Orlando for now.
