I was allocated 10 preview sets and it had this sketch by Babisu Kourtis and a card 16/20 for a free metal variant preview set.

GREAT break!!! :)!

I'm SO HAPPY to have BIN my friend's, Babis, Wizard of Oz sketch card; THANK YOU for giving me the chance! :flex:;)

On another note, which has NOTHING to do with arguments or debates, it's equally GREAT to see so many fellow Scoundrels here (even if they/you guys have left)! :)

Nice pulls! Still waiting on mine to arrive and hoping for big luck with one set ordered :P

Did you pay for expedited shipping? I live in Canada and mine is still in the mail...

I received my bundle of 20 Preview Sets from Tony and Elaine earlier today. Great fast shipping from Canada to here in the UK again :) I found two sketches and one Redemption Card in my packs as expected. Both sketches are excellent, I just wish I knew which fairy tale is depicted in Stefanie Battalene's card. I just do not recognise it. Anyway, here are my pulls:

Stefanie Battalene ( ? ), Carolyn Edwards (The 3 Little Pigs)
Redemption Card for Metal Variants of Preview Set

The preview set itself is also excellent with some gorgeous artwork. The Pernas have used 'spot gloss' (for want of a better term) on the front of the cards to peek out the main subject.

The Battalene card is from "The Happy Prince" I believe. Congrats!

I have so many comments...

First... Love the "everybody posting in one spot" Scoundrel style! I think its the one thing I don't like about the way this place is organized. Great to see so many great sketches in one place, instead of having to open a bunch of different threads to find them. Especially since I checked Scoundrel this afternoon and didn't see a "post your pulls" thread yet ;)

Second... that Carolyn Edwards sketch is AMAZING! One of my favorites so far, from everything that has been shown. Congrats on that pull.

Finally... Allocations? Really. Have the PREVIEW sets for Perna Studios become some popular that they are forced to allocate? Oh... That doesn't bode well for actual sets later this month. I told Elaine, they can NEVER produce enough to make everybody happy. It would be impossible :)

20 sets just gaurenteed 2 sketches and a redemption. Some probably had to be allocated cuz they stopped taking orders after less than 2 hours.

Are people still posting over there on Scoundrel?

I too love that Carolyn Edwards sketch, congrats! And yup this was allocated, in fact I couldn't even get 20 sets so just passed as I wanted to try and hit a sketch but odds were against it if not doing 20 sets.

Actually you get 1 sketch per 10 sets.

I thought it was 10 sets that guaranteed you a sketch. 20 sets guaranteed you a redemption for the Metal variants. If you were still able to get 10 sets you would've gotten a sketch I'm pretty sure.

It was 10 for a sketch and 20 for a redemption.

Thuy,

Your AMAZING SW luck seems to be continued here with the 2 AWESOME sketch cards you pulled!!! :)

One can be only happy to see these tiny masterpieces of art ending up to a great fellow collector like you! :)!

Jason,

You're spot on with your remark above! I too LOVE seeing both this kins of set up AND also many fellow Scoundrels in this thread, barring the latest note on the luck of posts over there, other than the ones posted by the Pernas.

So I would like to offer my extra promo sets to anyone interested for just the price of a bubble envelope and shipping. I only need my set so why waste these nice cards. I have a few sets of Halloween too.

Got my set in the mail but sadly no bonuses. Oh well, the cards are lovely and the Pernas threw in a bunch of promo cards as well. Set 389/400 for me and I emailed an order at 2PM PST exactly.

I'm fairly certain it's because they allocate they orders in order of how many you ordered. So if you order 20 they go first. Then it's actually probably orders of 10. Keeping them in even intervals to insure the gaurenteed hits. Then if people ordered between 10 & 20 my guess is they'd be next, possibly allocating the first 10 then adding additionals. Less than 10 probs just go in order of number of sets, every 10th pack and some other randoms including hits. At least I'd assume something like that. For Halloween packs, they sent out the larger orders first, then the smaller. Just saying that's probs why it's so close to the end, singles are probably allocated last.

As I understand it, they actually break up the larger orders to satisfy smaller orders. The preview set cards themselves may not be popular, but the inclusion of sketches and redemptions certainly help sales.

Tony and Elaine have a great short run / high quality product, so while they may be leaving some money on the table, I'd much rather see them take this route than try over-producing like many other independent companies.

And the "printing term" is Spot Varnish. I've loved the look of these since they debuted it with the first Classic Mythology set.

You can contact Tony and/or Elaine Perna through Blowout (User Name: Perna Studios), their Deviant Art site: Pernastudios (Perna Studios) - DeviantArt (http://www.pernastudios.deviantart.com), or through their Facebook group - which I believe is their preferred method for ordering. The Classic Fairy Tales sets have not yet been released though.

We're very happy that everyone is enjoying the preview sets. We hope everyone will love the main set just as much. Only a few more weeks until the presale. :D

Jordyne is absolutely right. We allocate all the orders of 20 first. Then the orders of 10 and finally all the orders under 10. We make sure that there is a sketch card randomly in every 10 packs. It may not be in every pack that ends on the number 10, but we definitely take care to make sure that all the extras are collated well and even.

If anyone needs any of the first 4 promos, we do have some extras. We can ship them for the cost of postage and handling. Please send us a message if interested. We also have a very small quantity of metal promo variants available too (the SP1 Red Riding Hood metal variant is sold out though).

Lol, i spent alot of time once thinking of how it would Work to guarentee hits when allocating. It was either that or you inserted sketches as you allocated, but that seemed less likely for many reasons. Lol.

Oh and its much appreciated. Your collation is by far the best. Big companies seen to be getting worse and worse at it. Lol.

If you are buying the base sets from sellers on eBay or the forums, most likely they were already opened for the sketch cards and chase cards. The same usually goes for the preview sets. The ones being sold online usually do not have any sketch cards or redemption cards in them, as they get opened and sold first.

I recently decided to go back and collect the first Classic Mythology set which was the only one I missed. They really do a fantastic job!

The Battalene card is from "The Happy Prince" I believe. Congrats! You are correct, many thanks. I had a look on the Perna Studios Deviantart pages and the card is there with the tag #thehappyprince. Now I have to go away and find the fairy tale to go with it as I have never heard or heard of this one before :)
