I'm not sure if anyone else has noticed, but some of the bigger, top rated ebay sellers always have their listings set to "seller is away". This basically is stating that the seller is not at home and there will be a delay in shipping.

Well, probstein123 always has every one of his listings set to seller is away, but never does he have a delay in shipment.

I'm just curious if maybe this is a loophole in eBay's system that sellers are taking advantage of. Maybe they claim to be away, that way if packages don't arrive on time they will not be held accountable for them. Thus keeping their 5 star ratings and top rated seller status.

Just curious if anyone knows if this is in fact how it works.

when probstein does it, it is basically showing nothing is gonna be shipped till that "day." Basically it shows when they'll be back in shop again.
A lot of the time for other sellers, it shows that they will be on vacation, etc.

I thought his only shows 'away' on the weekends. I've noticed the sellers with names that look like card stores use this on the weekend. I don't believe weekend days are factored into the shipping timeframe.

I went out of town for a few days with active listings and wanted to give it a try, but I couldn't figure out how. I think it is only available for people with stores.

If you have a store, you can set to Away or vacation status. It doesn't matter when your order arrives, it's when it Ships that counts towards your seller ratings. Weekends don't count, it's counted in "business days"

I read a thing on probstein somewhere, like a little local newspaper online or something, and it mentioned that he does that for every jewish holiday, major or minor
