2 RTS's today that were short postage, I guess it's too much to send 2 cards with toploaders, index card, and folded SASE, going back out tomorrow with an extra stamp

skip the toploaders - saves on postage and makes it easier for the person to sign and return. I've seen some posts on here where the person will sign the toploader etc.

Believe it or not, I have only had 1 card damaged and I send them all out without toploaders. I have had 2 cards that were damaged in toploaders (the card slid halfway out and then got creased. I also have had 2 toploaders signed on the toploader... soon as the 2nd one happened I stopped sending them in toploaders. Also, the USPS machine rollers can bend the toploaders and they can get smashed and caught. The card itself can easily bend through the rollers without any damage. Just my .02 :) hope that they start rolling in for you in mint condition :)

Don't send in toploaders. It's like flushing 2 stamps down the toilet every time. Instead, I put two index cards in between them. Not too heavy or thick, but just enough so it adds a little protection.

That's what I'll do next time. And it gives you a chance to get 2 extra autos if the player signs the index cards :)!

One success back, Koji Uehara. But he signed the penny sleeve :mad:. Now I've had about everything, RTS, signed sleeve, extra cards, personalization. But now I'm done using sleeves and toploaders, not sure if I'll send back to him or not.

In all honesty, I keep the cost even lower by using business size envelopes, folding the SASE in three and placing the card inside. It's done a great job of protecting the card to this point. :)

If the envelope is too "rigid" to go through the automated machines - they will charge extra postage for an actual human being to sort it etc. I have had this happen once or twice as well.

Someone is in a shitty mood at my PO, of the 6 I sent, 5 got returned for postage due. 3 of them had 1 stamp, 1 card in a toploader, SASE, and index card; all are 20 cents missing. 1 with 2 toploaders, SASE, index card, and 2 stamps missing 34 cents, and 1 with 4 cards in a thick toploader, SASE and index, missing 51 cents. Should I just stop using toploaders, or was someone wrong; there should be no way that the 3 with 1 card can't go with 1 stamp.

Would taking them out of the toploaders and putting them in new envelopes save all the postage due, or would they still want 20 cents extra?

Finished repackaging, saved a stamp in the process; the 5 envelopes weigh 2.5 oz, the toploaders weigh 2 oz. Think I learned a lesson today :)!

That is what I do too...just wrap the cards and SASE in the LOR

I agree with all above. Something I learned quick was to not include toploader. Few reasons....
1.Card comes out of toploader and can easily be bent
2. Mail roller can jam, or bend your card in rolling.
3. Athletes put the wet ink'd auto back in the toploader smearing the autograph.

Not much to report in the last long time, looks like redoing my bucket screwed with the Coach Kill autograph that last came, still haven't got the 2 Laurinaitis plates that I sent 5 months ago back, went 1/7 on Spring Training getting 2 bubbled Drew Butera cards back, and just sent out to James Durbin yesterday so looking forward to getting that back since he seems to sign quickly even though he just started a smaller venue tour.

Troy Stoudermire 3/4. Same thing as MarQueis, sent 2 of each and offered that he can keep the extras. I guess this means he is still with the Bengals, couldn't find much after rookie camp about he or Michael Carter. Hard to judge the actual color, but I think the pen is maroon, which is great with the Gophers colors.

Emailed his management last Sunday night, got this either on Friday or Saturday, super quick tournament. If you haven't listened to his music, he's country but adds a lot more interesting percussion influences into it. Probably my favorite country artist at the moment since he's got 4 solid songs.
