You saw the thread, clicked on the thread, and read the thread. Why? Interested? Or more likely, just on the hunt for anyone who posts more Bryant excitement so you can pounce with the hate?
I'm a Brewers fan, big time. Can't stand the Cubs. But I also realize that Kris Bryant has hit 9 home runs in 26 at bats. Most players couldn't do that in batting practice much less against a pitcher trying to get him out.
So far, the results are exceeding the hype. Never thought I'd say that.

People always say Bryce Harper, Jason heyward, etc could never live up to the hype people expected. what would happen if a player who came into the year so hyped up, played beyond the levels of expectation?? Heads exploding, threads all over the place, never ending madness on that player. This may truely be the first player in a long time that exceeded the anticipated hype. Everyone who hates to hear his name is looking for a reason to talk badly, they have yet been given one. So they will resort to trolling any thread about the guy to make up for it. I say who cares, you choose to read what you want. Accept the things you all cannot change! The bryant hype will be here for a while.

They hype has him as a surefire HOFer. The results are 9 spring training home runs. I don't think he's exceeded the hype yet.
First he has to start in a regular season game. Then he can start living up to any hype.

He's exceedd the hype in sales. Did anyone expect this much of a jump in prices for his cards?

After Strasburg K'ed 14 in his MLB debut, his base chromes hit $40 for a day or so.

Huh? Sales are essentially the monetary equivalent of hype. One doesn't exceed the other, one drives the other.

He would need to become one of the top 3 active players in the MLB in order to live up to his hype. His level of hype is insane and while I'm sure that he will play well, even being a great player and an all star/hall of famer isn't enough unless he is one of the best.
Every hitter also hits a point where MLB pitchers learn how to pitch to them and they hit a wall. Puig did the same thing. The difference is that Bryant is expected to be better than Puig and is expected to go through that wall quickly. He's going to get to that point and struggle for a bit, at which point people will freak out and his sales will fall.

Exactly, also Matt Hague hit 7 in spring training in 2012 and never any in the majors. He's going to be very good but relax people. He'll have great power but lets not forget this is also a guy that struck out exactly 1/3rd of his at bats in AA and AAA last season. Lets not forget even guys like Adam Dunn hit way over .300 in the minors

If topps drops the ball and does not get rc logo in finest...
I might boycott topps rest of the year...
My favorite rc logo cards... hands down...
Topps can screw it up im sure

he will probably have 2013 and/or 2014 autos so no reason for Topps to do that :D

I'm really not worried about Bryant. If anything we should be praising the fact Baez has only struck out in about 25-30 percent of his AB this spring... and opposed to the 40 percent last MLB season. :coffee:
Lets also talk about the strong spring Addison Russell had. Again, to me at least, of more importance.

You forgot to add Almora in there too, he will be there next year barring any big set backs, along with Schwarber also. But sadly it is not going to matter if the pitching is not there which ya they got Lester but after Arrieta it looks rough.

Buy into it. Go look at Bryant's AB's. He's hitting balls down and away, up and in and anywhere else. And those hits are going far. He's not a close your eyes and swing hard type of guy (like Baez). One article has put him with the likes of Mantle, Gherig and Mays - type of ball player that comes around every few decades. People refer to his K's but fail to mention his +.400 average this spring and I think .320 avg through 1.5 minor league seasons. He is legit. Believe it.

If most of them work out, this reminds me of the building of the great Cleveland lineup around 1994-1997. Lofton, Baerga, Belle, and really young/rookies Jim Thome and Manny Ramirez. They also had a GG SS in Vizquel. It was a blast to watch that lineup.
I am pulling for Bryant to be a megastar because I love greatly skilled players, whether hitters or pitching and feel the sport needs some true boppers again.

Albert Almora has had a solid spring also. Not looking for him to be called up until September at the earliest. Wouldn't doubt that he's the starting centerfielder next season. Dexter Fowler is on a one year contract.

If people don't want to talk about or enjoy his insanity, stay off the boards while he is hot or just skip over them. I don't own a single Bryant card and hate the Cubs - but people posting about him, how is that an annoyance?

Same thing happened a few years back when Harper came up, every time he hit a HR = 5 threads. Every time he went 2-5 = 4 threads. Every time her went 0-4 with 3k = 1 thread and nothing from the peanut gallery (aka nuthuggers). Let's wait until he is facing real MLB pitching before creating 47,698 threads about him.

I was thinking the same thing since Bryant was hitting most of his HR off of no name guys. But then Bryant hit his bomb off of King Felix. I heard he was a pretty good pitcher in the MLB.

In this era of depressed offense, there were only 11 players who hit 30+ home runs last year. Even if Kris Bryant has a fantastic rookie year (say, .280 with 25 home runs), I would imagine it'd still be seen as a disappointment, especially if he starts out super hot and cools off.
I mean, Strasburg was hyped as much as anyone, and since his rookie year he's been undoubtedly one of the top pitchers in baseball, but even THAT wasn't good enough for the hobby. There's virtually no possible way Kris Bryant can live up to this hype.

I totally agree with this post.

As a fly ball hitter playing half his games at Wrigley it is more likely he will hit .240 with 40 than .280 with 25.
