I have been semi-retired from the hobby for a bit, but it was brought to my attention that a fake or duplicate card of mine is on ebay.
I'm not sure whose card is authentic, but here is mine:
http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad359/hychang5pc/Jordan/Inserts%20Serially%20Numbered/98-99thunderraveback.jpg (http://s951.photobucket.com/user/hychang5pc/media/Jordan/Inserts%20Serially%20Numbered/98-99thunderraveback.jpg.html)
http://i951.photobucket.com/albums/ad359/hychang5pc/Jordan/Inserts%20Serially%20Numbered/98-99thunderravefront.jpg (http://s951.photobucket.com/user/hychang5pc/media/Jordan/Inserts%20Serially%20Numbered/98-99thunderravefront.jpg.html)
And the one on ebay is this:
1998 99 Skybox Thunder Platinum Rave No 23 Jersey Michael Jordan 38 150 | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/1998-99-Skybox-Thunder-Platinum-Rave-NO-23-Jersey-Michael-Jordan-38-150-/381209944957?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item58c1e2237d)
Both are serially numbered 038/150. I am not claiming mine to be the authentic or original one but in case anyone was planning on bidding on this.
BTW - I noticed I have had some PM's while I was on hiatus and will try to get back to anyone who has messaged me.

I'm just gonna go with my instincts on this one and say the one from Taiwan could be the fake one.

Yeah, Henry ... just look at the completed auctions for that seller for "rave" or "big men on court". They've been listing and selling what are likely counterfeit inserts for quite a while now and continue to do so as they get away with it and make big $$$ from doing so.

These guys are killing the prices of these inserts by listing fakes so often. It's sad.
The seller just sold a MJ Rave /150.

Where there's Taiwan/China, there's fire.
It's ashame many of these early 90's cards are so simple and easy to recreate with a decent laserjet and a foil die machine. Yes, they are killing the market for 90's cards. Would seem to make those old label bgs slabs worth even more.

No way to contact ebay and get them banned?

Raves
Rubies
BMOC
BMOC Z PEAT
A Cut Above
Platinum Medallion
ALL confirmed as FAKE coming from Taiwan MANY have been graded although BGS has slowed/stopped...
ANYTHING with an 0008 grade number is now in question regarding those cards.

This seller just so happens to be selling 4 of the confirmed fakes.

Pretty sure that's just one of the many selling accounts for one of the big sellers out of China/Taiwan. I'm pretty convinced one person has like 4 different selling accounts, and sticks to selling bad fakes on one account and the legit high end (how else do you think they afforded them?) on their main.
That whole situation is a flustercuck.

Both excellent points... anything coming out of China is automatically suspect.
And those older BGS slabs should definitely be worth more, in my opinion
Why not print a million wiggins prizms or AD....simple stuff...
Where does the line stop?

Curious what the difference between real and fake EX Cut Above inserts. That "fake" looks awfully good.

Yes....yes it does. And just wait until these guys decide to go after the much easier Star Co Jordans.....no wait...:)!
I promised I'd leave that Jordan Star Co topic alone after the other week.....

Anyone know if any of the 1997-98 Inserts are questionable. Mainly interested in:
1997-98 Ultra Star Power Supreme EDIT: I found an OLD BGS 8.5 that appears to be this one broken out from
1997-98 Big Men On Court Edit I found the auction. It was listed by PWCC and won by the seller I got it from. This is the one I want more information about
1997-98 Platinum Portraits Edit: this card looks great, unless anyone has some proof that they have been faked, I think this one is good too.
I just bought a lot, and most of these look good. Just wondering as I know every card scans differently. My Kobe BMOC's 3D effect is there, it is just less pronounced than a Shareef I had a few months ago. Since I never had a Kobe in person before, I wanted to check.
I bought this: 18 RARE Kobe Bryant 90s Autograph Insert Lot | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/18-Rare-Kobe-Bryant-90s-Autograph-Insert-Lot-/191535180802?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2c9862ec02)

Prizms are a LOT harder to recreate than normal printed card stock. Eventually they'll probably evolve to that, but right now they're sticking with the simple designs that are much easier to recreate and still pull a lot of money. Makes much more financial sense from a scamming perspective.
It's sad that this is what the hobby has become, but fakes are a concern in any industry from fine arts to electronics. Just the nature of the game.

If it's 90's and mid to high end, I think I'd be worried about any semi star or star at this point.

Stuff like this makes me glad I don't collect basketball anymore. I know this has to also be happening with football, but it seems more prevalent with basketball.

Considering most, if not all fakes are originating from China/Taiwan, I'd say your 90's FB collection is safe. :)
