I always think the 1969 Topps are unique and beautiful, especially they are more narrow than the most cards, so I am thinking add a 1969 Topps Jabbar rookie to my PC , but I don't know much about the vintage ones... anyway I definitely want a graded one, so what grade and which company do you guys suggest? I could spend a few hundred bucks on this one. Thanks!

I got this PSA 9 (OC) many many years ago at at show for pretty cheap like $300.

PSA all the way for this card. Any vintage basketball really. Their grading standards are more trusted by vintage card collectors. Also, PSA doesn't grade sheet cut cards with no mention of the fact that they didn't come out of a pack. BVG will give a card a nice high grade and meanwhile you don't know that you just bought a sheet cut card that isn't the correct size.

This Alcindor(Jabbar) rookie is a great card and PSA 5's, 6's and 7's can be had at reasonable prices. 8 or above is gonna cost you some coin.

I saw there are a few PSA6 Jabbar rookie selling for around $300 on eBay right now, and yours is definitely better than the PSA6, maybe yours have already double the value since you bought it. Great card!

Thanks for the info. How much do you think a PSA6 or PSA7 is worth? Actually this is going to be my first card that made before 1980s, so do you think I should collect Wilt chamberlain RC or Bill Russell RC instead of Jabbar RC as my first true vintage card?

The long and narrow shape of it made it looks so unique. People can simply tell it's a vintage card simply by seeing the shape of it. lol...

There are several PSA/DNA graded Jabbar rookie cards that personally signed by Jabbar. Do you guys think they are worth to collect, or are those Jabbar signed rookie cards better? These signed ones weren't truly graded; they were only certificated authentic by PSA/DNA. Anyway, which one do you suggest, an actually PSA graded one or a PSA/DNA certified signed one?

Personally, I would not get those. If you are going to get an old school classic card, still with the original.

Thosebackpages has the pricing correct.

I would pick Jabbar over Wilt and Russell because you can get a card in a higher grade for less money than the other two. Plus I like the over sized format on the 1969 topps. That's just my opinion though. You can't go wrong with any of those guys.

I sold my Wilt PSA 6 rc about 2 years ago. Solid feedback, let it run for 7 days. I lost money on the card. I had $500 in it, it went for barely $400. I regretted that sale ever since.

Looking at the completed auctions, I see a horribly centered "authentic" slab even got $500 in February. :o

Are these vintage cards' value still increasing?

Are these vintage cards' value still increasing?

Somewhat, but to a much lesser extent than the stuff graded 8 or above.

Somewhat, but to a much lesser extent than the stuff graded 8 or above.

So these vintage cards with grades that below 8 are much affordable to most collectors whom they want to simply make these cards as their PC, and cards graded above 8 will have better reselling value due to their population. Thanks for the explanation! :)
