Called it. This is so wrong and leaves so much open for issue. So, are the artists now given an extended return date? Where do the redemption sketch cards from "random artist" come from? Will UD be bidding on, and buying, low priced cards sold on the secondary market and using them to fill redemptions? They sure don't seem all that rare, as I noted 3 of them on eBay with just a quick search.

I would be more accepting of this if it were a defined artist, as the market can generally make a valuation based on their past work, etc. To just throw in cards with absolutely no defined expectation is going to be a mess.

Maybe since this is more of a game based product, it won't matter? But, even then, why wouldn't you still leave it as "random artist" but define the type of card it would be on? This just needs to not spread to the products with sketch focused hits.

Not a fan of where this can lead down the road knowing where it's at in the sports card market.

Is this for that Marvel 3D set or whatever?

CZE has had redemption for sketch cards, but they were defined, and were for oversized cards.

Do you have some sample listings you are referring to?

You mentioned for a game, so maybe they are putting these in some of the Legendary game?

I don't think I'll panic just yet about sketch cards going the redemption route in regular product.

So I figured out that you are talking about the Marvel 3D release, but yeah a little more info would be helpful. Although, as a general rule, if the redemption is something that fits in a pack then I'm against it being a redemption.

In a very quick ebay search, I see three Marvel 3D sketch cards that say "pack pulled" in the listing, and I see two sketch redemption cards.

Yeah, I'm with you. This isn't looking good for this product.

Yeah, I think this is for the Marvel 3D product. But in a case break I saw posted over on Scoundrel Art, someone stated: the redemption sketch is for a custom of you as a bystander. Bystander cards are a type of character to use in the card game. So this might be cool, seeing yourself drawn on a sketch card. However, I agree that it being a random artist is a turnoff. Wish we had a list of artists. But I'm kind of intrigued, I will be looking for verification of the redemption, and I'll pick one up if I can find one cheap.

Yep, sorry, it's Marvel 3D. Got so angry scrolling across those in the daily search that I didn't even note the new release.

Well, if that's true, at least it's something to go on. Why wouldn't that be noted/marketed/posted somewhere by UD? You'd think that would help drive sales of product, if actually true.

?!? I think I can have myself drawn on any card by an artist of my choice if I commission the AP! In fact, Rittenhouse's rules for those photorealistic artists are very clear that if they use a person as a model they must have written permission from that person, so clearly you can infer that it is allowed to have yourself drawn onto a card. I guess those aren't playable cards, but... whatevs...

That should be a rhetorical question given UD's lousy information on releases.

Next are redemption cards to get a bystander card in the game. There is a rare one-of-one redemption card that will allow you to work with our product development team to create the mechanics for a Hero card as well! This will truly allow fans to get in the game like never before!

^ I thought that's what the redemption was for, but I feel like I've seen way too many already.

Exactly. UD is so, so bad.

With that said, it seems like the redemptions are nearly one-per-case which seems kinda high for a customizable hero card?

Now I'm even more confused after reading that blog post. So, you end up with a card just for you to keep that can be played in the game OR will it be mass produced and issued at a later time as an update and you still have your 1/1 sketch that was used to create it? I'm with Spider Fan on this one. Why not just hit up an artist of your actual choice and get a PSC done? This whole thing just seems weird. This is the kind of thing Kickstarter is for.

I'm wondering how small the production run was... Jeff hit 4 autos #/25 in a single case. Not sure how many creator autos there are - if it is an entire parallel set or whatever.

The blog post is talking about two different redemptions. The 1 per case redemptions are for the bystander cards. Then there is a single redemption card to make a hero card (and I assume that hero card will be printed in the next set).

On the autographs, there is an autograph for each of the 72 cards in the set. But a few cards have a second autograph (looks like maybe the first 15 cards in the set). This is based on the checklist posted on Cardboard Connection. So around 500 cases if they fall 4 per case.
