if you have a choice between one 95 Finest Garnett RC that has a coating vs no-coating, both in PSA 10, which one would you take?

A coated one would be far more rare because they grade the surface with the coating on, any bubbles under the coat count against the grading.

Coating for sure

The ones with coating will sell a bit more. I would take them both. As the matter of fact, KG doesn't has much big rookie cards, the Finest #115 is probably the one and only, and the PSA10 population is much lower than Tim Duncan's Topps Chrome. Grab them while you can.

I have a couple raw ones but it seems like they wouldn't grade very well. Was print spotting a big issue with these cards ? I opened a few boxes of 95 finest over the last few months and definitely was disappointed that both Garnetts I hit had printing defects.

I'd go against the majority and say without coating. There has been so much debate on it but I just feel that the adhesive will sooner or later cause damage to the card surface. But I do agree that they are more expensive now with coating.

The problems associated with the 95 finest are centering and fading. Not particularly familiar with bubbling unless you're referring to the coat itself.

I prefer these without the coating. Whenever I can, I buy one of each though.

I always liked the Finest cards with the coating. I never peeled them when I was younger.

We KG collectors are lucky that KG doesn't has too many version of rookie cards, so we can concentrate on this one. Lol...

what's the POP for PSA 10 with coating vs no coating ?

PSA Pop

Without Coating
PSA 10 Pop = 330
Total Pop = 1,912

With Coat
PSA 10 Pop = 320
Total Pop = 2,279

I know I was but how many are you are surprised that it seems to be split down the middle ?

Prices of the psa10's are creeping up over 100 dollars, which is more than the duncan psa 10 base chromes currently sell for.

Population on the Garnetts may be lower, but I don't see how anyone can argue that Duncan is the much better and decorated player with greater consistency throughout his entire career.

If Duncan ends the year with another ring, prices should get pretty insane.

I paid just under $80 each for my Duncan Topps Chrome PSA 10 RC and my Garnett Finest PSA 10 RC. Duncan should spike a bit if he gets another ring. I don't know what the ceiling is on his RC though. It's not exactly rare. The Refractor could make a pretty big move.

I know, bad comparison, but the 86 fleer set wasn't exactly limited run. Then again, totally different era and much more condition sensitive and a lot of people didn't baby their cards back then.

But the fact an AD prizm base 9.5 is around 80-100 percent of the value of a Duncan chrome 9.5 should tell you something.

Word. Card collecting is all backwards now.

With coating wins over without coating every time. I'd rather have a 9.5 BGS, or a 9 PSA WITH coating than higher without coating. Cards missing coating are worth a lot less than those with the coating for me.

P.S. my views on this haven't changed since the 90s and never will, unless we're talking some RARITY like a prototype refractor, I.E. Rack Pack, I would be OFFENDED if someone even offered me a non coated card, then I'd scoff and walk away. Also, would take coated over well centered non coated.

To each their own. I prefer to actually be able to see that beautiful surface.

Tim Duncan is the best PF of all time, but I would say KG is at least as good as TD, also KG and Rodman are the only two top PFs have Defensive Player of the Year award.

Also, some people will intend to push TD's cards if he wins an another ring, so we have to be very careful at the time.

i prefer cards with the coating and so do most collectors of 90's cards, however, submitting with the coating you are more subject to a lower grade because of the peel

Id prefer the one without coating. Card without looks better

With coating for me. That's how the card was issued in packs. Without the coating to me is like having a Bird/Magic rookie, splitting at the perforated lines, and grading by themselves. Not the same I realize, but both are taking away from the way the card was manufactured to be put into packs.

Topps intent with the peels was to protect the surface. If it's peeled and graded, the actual surface is graded and then protected. These cards look awful with that ugly peel on them, and beautiful without the peel.

So the POP for Finest RC PSA 10 w/ coating is just barely over 300, I can see this being "the" rookie card for KG, since he has no refractor rc or any fancy numbered insert.

The last PSA 10 w/ coating sold for a nice penny, can't believe I missed that one -
