this years select seems to be a big hit, and last years wasnt all that bad. could select base RCs take the lead over Prizm? If it does, in the long run could it effect prior years? could the last 2 years of select increase in value from this?

Prizm = Topps Chrome & Select = Topps Finest. Prizm base will trump Select base but Select autos will trump Prizm autos.

I think this is the best Select we have seen yet.
Prizm does not have on card autographs or memorabilia in their hobby version. I don't think you can really compare the 2. Anyone that says Prizm is better would be wrong just based on the actual content you're able to get.

We are not talking about cases or the overall product... the OP simply asked about base rookie cards.

2012-13 select only has 1 base RC...

As a base RC collector, i am going to vote "No"
Prizm is my "go to" for base RCs
Select is my "go to" for base auto RCs because they are on-card in 2012 and this season

i agree with a lot of you all. but i'm thinking maybe in the long run if select continues to do this well, the product may be viewed as the BEST glossy/chrome or whatever type product and may end up trumping prizm in every category thus effecting previous years values

Select would have to start by making ONE base RC for the set. Wiggins has three Base RCs in the set. Different "Tiers" i know, but three is three

Thinking about the Tiered thing even more, it is totally like Finest was with the Bronze/Silver/Gold versions, which were all part of the "base set"

Prizm will rule for base rookies I believe.
