Most people get upset when somebody busts out a BGS or PSA 7 and sell it raw for more money. Why are people encouraged to crack a 9 to get a higher grade? Both are done for the same reasons....MORE MONEY. To me if you crack a 8 out and call it NRMT-MINT I see no problems with it. Just curious why one is ok and the other isn't?

The issue with cracking a low grade is that 99.9% of the time the grade is never disclosed therefor the damage to the card is basically lied about.

I mean do you really need it explained why hiding a poor grade is worse than a card getting a better grade based on a different graders opinion?

Grading is all subjective anyway.

I've cracked out cards that were 9 or less just because I rather have them raw.

It's not like condition of the card is going to get any better over time lol

To me there is absolutely no difference. So if somebody cracks a 7, regrades it and gets an 8 that's ok but cracking a 7 and listing it as a NM (which is what a 7 is) isn't OK? Seriously??? You aren't hiding anything. You are calling it what was graded. Now if you call it MINT then that is wrong. I do agree...most grading is a joke, but to me its hypocritical.

You basically have to completely ignore reality if you think someone isn't going to pay more for a raw card than one graded a 7. Doesn't mean it makes sense but it's still reality.

I agree it is subjective so if somebody doesn't agree it's a 7 why can't they crack it? Is it only subjective if you grade it again?
