Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady were two of the most exciting players in the past decade. I still remember how hot were VC's cards back in the days. Tmac was also one of the most popular players especially when he moved to Magic. For hobby's love, which one of them is better?

VC no question. Even though his stuff has faded, still a lot more love than T Mac overall

Wasn't T-Mac trying to make a comeback? Wasn't he training with Kobe in the offseason?
He's only 35. I really could see him coming back for one last season next year.

I'd have to go V.Carter too...but T-Mac definitely has his followers, but will probably stay in VC's shadow.. Isn't McGrady playing low level baseball right now? and from I remember reading, loving it... These guys were cousins, right?? At least that's what I remember...

Yes, VC and T Mac are cousins. It's was a good move for T Mac moved to Magic, otherwise he will always stayed in VC's shadow.

VC has a better market and his Raptors stuff (especially higher end) sells well. I remember paying $50 for a T-Mac TC RC like 12 or 13 years ago LOL.

Yeah, he did that in a 2000 Olympic game. At that time, VC was the most popular player, then followed by Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Allen Iverson, Shaq, Tim Duncan...

Hobby wise Carter overall, except in certain parts of Asia, McGrady has had a pretty big following there. On the court McGrady was a much better ballplayer overall.

Maybe if TMac had stayed in Toronto, he wouldn't have kept losing in the first round. If Toronto had made the NBA Finals, he would have been looked on more favorably. Do you think Scottie Pippen would have rather been the main guy on a 7-8 seed or winning 6 championships?

Aren't they cousins!?
I would pick Carter Over T-Mac.
Just realized someone answered that.

This thread makes me like Kobe more.
Kobe played the same kind of game as these two.
But Kobe had staying power and championships....

Kobe played for the Lakers and for Orlando or Toronto. Kobe had Shaq. T-Mac had no one and Carter the same in Toronto and New Jersey.
Imagine Kobe hadn't played for the Lakers but for Charlotte. He wouldn't be that great today. Look at Kobe's season 05/06. He missed the playoffs because he had the same teammates like VC in Toronto or T-Mac in Orlando.

Kobe had great teammates, but he is also one the hardest working players in the league. That's is why he's got so many followers, and Kobe is the closest player to Michael Jordan. Vince and T Mac had the potential to reach Kobe's today level, but for Vince, I think it was all about the fate that he didn't successfully transformed himself from a star to a superstar. For T Mac, he really needed to work and practice more harder, however, in some respects, he was more talented than Kobe, but he wasted it. He had Yao when Yao was in his prime, and they never even pass the first round.

I'm not going to take away from Kobe, Jordan, Bird, Magic, or Russell for playing with great players. They elevated their teammates with their play. I'll give you Kobe played with Shaq, but Shaq left and Kobe still won.
Vince and Tmac had each other for a minute
Tmac was alone in Orlando and never left the first round. Tmac had Yao, and they never left the first round
Vince had Kidd in NJ...a couple of finals they lost together.
You could argue those were Kidd's teams, which diminishes the argument for Vince.
The guy that had the MOST success with bad players was Iverson. That was a 1-man team.
I still take Vince over Tmac.
Question: If it were neck and neck, would you give Tmac the advantage for winning a championship with the Spurs?

In terms of hobby love you can take either.. I say they're about equal. But in terms of stats and being just a basketball player Tmac wins and it's not even close. He made the All NBA 1st team twice (VC only made 2nd and 3rd team All NBA). He made more of impact in a game than VC. All VC did was dunk.. which is why his hobby love is so high. Take away the dunks and you just got a decent NBA role player.

I don't understand that term. I am sorry :-) But I guess, no: T-Mac was just the man for the garbage time, maybe less than that.
but I agree with most of your arguments here. No way for a dicussion except one thing: Kobe didn't win without shaq. no chance. Kobe lost when he was on his own. He won again with Gasol next to him.
Maybe I like T-Mac more than Vince, but both are really great and amazing to watch. For me, it is still a miracle how Yao and T-Mac lost every playoff series. But most of the time, both were injured. That is maybe one reason for that.
Iverson was, in comparison to t-mac and vince, succesful. He was soooo great. So bad, that he had a bad character. He couldn't play in a team. Remember Chris Webber, Glenn Robinson...Help me :D

It would have never happened. The issue was Vince and T-Mac could not play together. They're cousins, and you simply can't wipe away life-time family rivalries when these guys had been compared to each other since they were young.

T-Mac and Grant Hill went to Orlando the same year but as everyone knows Hill's career after Detroit was injury riddled. He did have Ming in Houston but they just never were contenders. I believe Mcgrady was injured during the playoffs the year they actually got out of the 1st round.
Carter got to NJ after the Finals appearances. By that time the Pistons were the team to beat out East. Farthest he got in the playoffs was ECF with Howard, Lewis and Nelson in Orlando.

Tmac was dying to get out of Toronto.
He didn't like paying taxes/duties to another entity. He wanted to play in the states. Coincidentally, he went to Florida, which has no state income tax.

They pushed the Lakers to seven games the year they won the title.
