It looks like he is distancing himself away from Portland ever so slightly.

LaMarcus Aldridge flew back to Portland after Game 2 loss while rest of Blazers stayed in Memphis | ProBasketballTalk (http://bleacherreport.com/tb/dgw3W?utm_campaign=tsiphone&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=twitter.com)

I hope San Antonio signs Aldridge or Marc Gasol in the off season. I like watching Aldridge play, but he is stuck on a crappy team.

Wouldn't go that far. The team was hit with the injury bug this year, had no chance after Wes was gone.

Let's be fair though, he wants a championship and wanted to go back home to Texas, this would be what's best.

Yeah, I think he'd like to play for Pop and he's a solid player...Hopefully we can pick him up after Timmy retires...We gotta rebuild

If he goes to Spurs, he should expect to get some paid cut.

not a rebuild per say... more like just put some solid pieces around Kawhi.

I hope he stays in Portland, but if I'm being honest my guess is that he goes to San Antonio in the offseason.

L.A
Patty Mills
Kawhi
Danny Green
Spiltter or Bynes

Pretty good team.

Probably better for Portland if LMA goes. Kevin Love is on record with some favorable comments regarding Portland. Paying age 27-31 Love is probably a better idea than age 30-35 LMA.

Lillard, Batum, and Love would be a solid core to make a run with. Resign RoLo or go for Biyombo as rim protector, to throw in rotation with Kaman and Leonard; make a run at DeMarre Carrol or Corey Brewer as 3-D wings to assume Matthews starting role and to hedge Batum not resigning next year; offer Matthews a cheap rehab deal and/or fill out the roster will link-passing/3pt shooter role players like Gerald Henderson, Belinelli or Dunleavy; throw anything left at a risk/reward like Gerald Green or Kj McDaniels. I think that would make for a pretty good team.

he will be 30 in July and has made $86 million on the court. At some point, you'd think he would want a legit shot at a ring. A pay-cut SHOULDNT bother him, but i hear you

I'd love to see LA play a season with Timmy before he retires...that would be fun

1-2 overlap years with both Timmy and LaMarcus would be awesome to see. Kinda like the overlap years with Timmy and David Robinson.

Then, once Timmy retires, the Kawhi and LaMarcus combination would be KILLER!

Even as a Portland fan, I'd love to see Timmy/LMA side by side for a season.

.. I watched in an episode of NBA Action that LMA idolizes Tim Duncan. It would not be far-fetched if he decides to leave Portland and go to San Antonio.

Not a spurs fan but that would be an awesome addition

Then they can carry on tradition long as Pop don't retire. Then they are done.

I would love to see the Spurs retain Danny Green, but I am aware that is likely unrealistic. He will likely leave after being offered more than the Spurs can pay him.

That would be great for the Spurs if they do land a monster like L.A. Along side Leonard and supporting cast, it sure makes the Spurs look good for the future.

[QUOTE=fezziwig;9133473] Kevin Love is on record with some favorable comments regarding Portland. Paying age 27-31 Love is probably a better idea than age 30-35 LMA.

I highly doubt that Love would even consider coming to Portland. He has publicly stated through media that he felt like people did not really care about him in Lake Oswego.

"Lake Oswego's a nice place, but I always got a bad rap there," he says. "The people never really respected me. I always did stuff in the community. But maybe you get hated in your hometown if you succeed." Whiner of the Week: Kevin Love | OregonLive.com (http://blog.oregonlive.com/steveduin/2007/11/whiner_of_the_week_kevin_love.html)

If you feel like you are not cared about in a place like Lake Oswego then there is a small chance that he would want to come to Portland and live around Lake Oswego or West Linn which is where a lot of the players live.

Not sure how they'll be done if Pop leaves.

Coach Bud of the Hawks learned his craft from Pop and there's a bunch more. Spurs will be just fine.

LMA to Spurs is a perfect fit:)

That article is from 2007, when he was 19 years old, possibly yet to even play a game at UCLA.

Here is a quote from six months ago:

"Portland's always where my heart is going to be. My immediate family still lives here. I love coming home. It's a place that I always have loved playing. I was looking at it today saying, 'This is the Rose Garden to me.' That's what I grew up with. It's a fun place to come and play, the crowd, the energy. The fans are always great, always tough but fun to play in front of. It's good to come home to Portland."

As Trail Blazers host Cavaliers, Kevin Love says 'Portland is always where my heart is going to be' | OregonLive.com (http://www.oregonlive.com/nba/index.ssf/2014/11/as_trail_blazers_host_star-stu.html)

I do hope you're right though... I prefer to see him find his way to Golden State :D

I think Houston might have a run at him also if they can pull of a sign and trade type deal.

Good luck to whoever takes him. He's all star caliber, but if his 15-17 foot jumper is off, he's virtually worthless (as seen in this series). He also has a tough time against physical 4's and doesn't leverage his size well on the defensive end (Kevin Love, anyone?). He will grab boards though.

Probably best if he left Portland. I don't think he's a piece that will ever lead us to that next level. Time for a rebuild.

Kinda forgetting a big piece!

Tony Parker

I know he has been bad this season, but he still has a couple of good ones left!

I'm happy to let Green go for anything over $5m, he's not that good. Can't bounce the damn ball and hasn't been as good as he can be on D

Spurs would be very careful on Aldridge. He may be another Richard Jefferson that Spurs made the bad bet.

Richard Jefferson had some career stat before playing for Spurs, but mostly due to his high usage. When you play in Spurs, you have to be efficient, not being high usage guy. Aldridge is this kind of high usage guy (30+%). If Aldridge is just above average player, he will get like 15/7 in Spurs uniform. And people would like.. where is the Aldrigde with 20/10?

And if you get a guy expecting him to be 15/7, you will not offer this guy a max deal. Which leads to the point that, how much money is Spurs willing to offer, as well as how much pay cut Aldridge would take. This FA would be his last chance for a big paycheck.

Personally, I think Aldridge will go for max deal. He is not Lebron. He does not have 2nd big income. He is not going down the history to compare with Duncan, KG or Dirk. He should chase the $$ while he still can.

Except that Spurs use the PF in the post as a 'settle down' plan, so there will be a need to just feed LA, Jefferson played SG, SF without getting plays called for him.

Under Spurs offense, you would not feed him enough to have 30+% usage. He will get his points, but not 20 points.

not really sure why people think he would go to SA, this is his last "big contract" and i would think a team like LA or NY etc with money and room would be more willing to pay for him.

Unless Portland wants to go cheap, he will get his most money in Portland (and longer contract, too)

You are right, I just think it is not possible it will go quite as bad as the RJ experiment

I can't even remember other than maybe J Kidd?

There's always rumors but they fall flat because of money, chemistry concerns or they can jump high and hit their FTs :)

Yea exactly, so that would mean stay with his team. But if he leave s his team it's not gonna be for a team like the Spurs in his last big contract year. One exception would be if Duncan made it clear to the management he was retiring and they just decided to go off the general plan to get a allstar big man.
