The hobby’s biggest card recorded another big sale this weekend.
It’s a PSA 3 copy of the 1909 T206 Honus Wagner and it was part of the annual Robert Edward Auctions sale that ended Saturday night. After 42 bids, it sold for $1.1 million and that excludes a 20-percent buyer’s premium that raised the sale to $1.32 million.
The card carries a Sweet Caporal back.
Last fall, a PSA 1 Wagner with the same back but much more damage sold for $403,664, while Goodwin & Co. sold an SGC 40 for $1.23 million on April 20, 2012.
A PSAA 5 (MC) copy of the card set the high bar recently with a $2.1 million sale in 2013.
