Onto the next round for both teams!

Interested in seeing some opinions on this series.

Clips bench was really exposed last round, while Rockets seem to get some decent contributions from 3 players.

Howard Vs. Jordan- really interested in seeing that battle. Who will hack more?

Josh Smith made a huge statement last round, can he continue that kind of production?

Who is going to guard Blake Griffin and James Harden?

Residual effects of CP3s hamstring injury is the biggest question mark imo, and the biggest deciding factor atm.

Im going to say Clips in 7, another really hard fought series between two very athletic teams.

I'm gonna stick with the Clips. I thought they'd beat the Spurs so I've gotta go with them against a team I'm not a huge fan of in HOU.

Clips will actually have some depth against this squad I reckon. And Doc should outcoach McHale all day long.

Clippers have a great team but they are worn out after playing the spurs. They have a lot of talent but got very lucky to win round 1. Paul is hurt and they already seem to feel like they won the title after squeezing out a first round win.

I did not think the Clippers had enough mental sterngth to get past the Spurs in such a tough series; but it looked as though age finally caught up with the guys from San Antonio. It was a hell of a series; I can not think of a better first round one.

I think the Clippers lack of depth after such a tough 1st round will be their undoing; especially as it looks as though Paul is not going to be fully fit for the whole series.

Houston to go through in six.

That was a good laugh. Thank you.

I'm going with Rockets in 6. If Chris Paul stays healthy and the Clips bench actually starts producing, they'll push it to 7 but I'd still take Houston.

I am interested to hear your reasoning behind this statement!

Is it based on the season series being split 2-2?

Or the fact that the 2 the Clippers won included the Rockets using Tarik Black and Joey Dorsey as starting Centers?

Or is it based on the fact that Dwight Howard hasn't played against the Clippers at all this season?

Jamal Crawford and glen Davis are the clippers bench, not one other clippers player would get pt on the rockets and I don't even think glen Davis would (smith, jones and a healthy motiejunas are better players). I like the rockets in 6.

Clippers in 6. Howard doesn't scare me either dose there bench. Him and DJ will cancel each other out. Harden and Blake are X factors. Who's gonna guard them? No one on either team can. And well, Doc vs McHale, no offense but I'd rather have a proven winner on my sideline running my team. Doc is a far better coach then Kevin.

GoClips!
05-04-2015, 04:46 PM
Not too optimistic for tonight's game, but I think the Clips can win the series. CP3's injury is absolutely the biggest factor, but people have overlooked Blake's triple double(and all around game) because of Paul's heroics in game 7. I expect Blake to be on a mission like when Cp3 got hurt last year.

I'm also hoping to see some Lester Hudson at the point. Chinese League MVP who we picked over Nate Robinson. He can really defend and shoot a little(or a LOT better than Austin Rivers, minus Game 4). Give Lester a chance, Doc!

What? The Rockets are one of the best defensive teams in the league; they ranked #6 in defensive efficiency playing half of the season without the 4 time DPOY. Fast pace =/ bad defense.

No it's based on the fact the Clippers are 11-3 vs Houston last 14 games.

So you use a sample size that suits the argument? Clippers have not 'owned' the Rockets this year and it's only this year that counts!

I like your optimism, but Dwight destroys DJ every day of the week, not getting cancelled out. DJs 1/1 defense will get exposed I think

71 2nd half points?
Barnes 20 Pts?
Harden seemed like he was completed uninterested in the game...

I dont agree with holding Paul out for game 2. If hes healthy enough to play he plays, why give away any games?

This is such an odd series for me to watch.

Regular season, the Clippers are likely my least favorite team due to Matt Barnes, Glen Davis, Chris Paul, JJ, Hawes, etc. They're all good players, but I don't like their personalities and/or how they play the game. Blake, Jamal, and maybe DeAndre really the only players I can say I like out of the entire Clippers organization.

Anyways, I despise James Harden more-so than my distaste for the Clippers. Harden is pretty much the biggest BS player in the league. He reminds me EXACTLY of Wade from the Mavs/Heat finals about 10 years ago. Where the refs have some sort of motivation to blow the damn whistle every single time the guy misses a shot. Call it "wise" by Harden to do this, but I don't enjoy it. I also don't like Dwight Howard & Josh Smith.

If the refs would simply call the games fairly, the Rockets wouldn't even be in the Playoffs. James Harden's scoring would be down to 10ppg and Dwight Howard would foul out of every game within 5 minutes due to fouls from pushing/grabbing/holding or throwing elbows in the paint.

I *NEVER* thought I'd say this but ... GO CLIPPERS! .... :-/

No way he has being doing this the last couple of years, he has been a soft flopping dunker.
He has added much much more to his game, his outside game was equal to Shaq's, now you must defend him and your going to need help.
He could be another Lebron, only bigger, faster and able to jump higher.

At halftime I felt like the Clips were gonna win. The Rockets didn't play all that great. LA just had a very poor second half. Griffin was ice cold in the fourth, with Paul out Crawford handles the rock too much and takes too many tough shots. However, the Clippers were down their best player after a tough series against SA and the Rockets barely won game 2 just to stay alive. They should get CP3 back game 3 (hopefully).

This game is GREAT!

Finally, between this game and the last Cavs/Bulls game, the refs are LETTING THEM PLAY. Not many BS, ticky-tac fouls.

And guess what James Harden?! You're NOT THAT GREAT! You're only MVP-caliber when the refs are giving you 20PPG themselves!

Love seeing his flailing shots and drives go un-tweeted by the refs. This is how it ALWAYS should be, but the regular season is such a joke when it comes to things.

Everyone's getting fouled. I'm not going to even bother looking at a biased Houston Rockets messageboard for any opinion on James Harden. Everyone gets fouled all season long. However, Harden gets glorified for playing "smart" by Rockets fans, everyone else sees it as "cheap acting" to get calls. I'll agree, if the refs call it ... do it. But it's pathetic.

In the Playoffs, it's been much more down-to-earth for Harden. Not COMPLETELY though...

Did you see that play just now, the call on Chris Paul?

Harden literally grabbed CP3's arm and pulled it up through his own arm LOL ... it was wild how blatant that was. And Harden GOT the call.

Harden also had the blatant travel at the end of the half.

I get it, I should be upset with the refs. I am, but Harden is still the one who flops every single drive to the hoop, and every single jumpshot. The ONLY thing he doesn't flop on is those 3-pointers he makes.

It's just amazing how real things get.

All of a sudden the game gets tightened up by the referees in the Playoffs and Mr. "MVP contender" James Harden's game completely disappears. None of his flopping for fouls is working, and that really changes the entire dynamic of the game for the opposing team. Regular season it felt like Harden had the refs on his payroll...

I'd like to hope the refs calling Harden fairly like this continues into Houston ... but I doubt that will happen...

25 & 11 on 50% shooting (and only 5FTs) sucks? It's not Harden's fault. The Rockets have 1 ball handler, no post options, and a team full of average at best shooters who shoot 30 3s a game. Harden is not the issue, no one can do it alone.

Harden definitely does not suck. However, his flow is not the same as it was all season long. He's getting doubled when he has the ball (and that's why he has so many assists, he's handling the double very well). However, his FT attempts are way down, and he's not getting the "and-1" calls he usually does, nor is he getting the majority of calls on his flailing drives or leg kicks on jumpers.

Harden is a superstar without his flopping antics, but this series goes to show he's struggling to get into his normal, regular-season-like flow/rhythm due to the no-calls on his flops, the double-teams, and the hack-a-Dwight/Smith. It's really working to the Clippers' advantage.

Much of Hardens numbers/stats didn't really have an impact on the game. Hence why statistics are overrated.

But again, Harden does not suck ... but he's not getting the whistle-treatment to the extent like he's used to during the regular-season.

I'd say that has a lot more to do with a couple of bad refs (Ken Mauer is the worst) than any kind of "play-off rules", he got called pretty normally in the Mavs series, and even the last game against the Clippers. I think the whole "no call" thing in the playoffs is way over-blown. Harden has shot 9.8 FTs per in the playoffs compared to 10.2 per in the regular season.

The first round of Playoffs was pretty weak, officiating-wise. And the Mavericks, my favorite team, are the worst defensive team I've ever seen. Harden got all those "head-jerk", "swing-through", and "leg-kick" flop calls. The second round, across the league, has been called pretty tight. It has been refreshing. Look at the Bulls/Cavs series. How many drives to the hoop by both teams with contact of a defender have been no-called? It's been very nice to watch.

That tends to happen with teams that have a "defensive" reputation for some reason, the Grizzlies games get called the same way.

I do totally agree with that. The Grizzlies are known as the "toughest" team in the NBA.

Gasol and Randolph get away with so much pushing, shoving, grabbing, illegal screens, etc. They wouldn't be half as good as they are if they were officiated correctly.

I understand this happens across the league, due to team/player reputations. That is why I love teams like the GSWs. They just play great, offensively and defensively, and play as a TEAM. Same with the Spurs. Those two teams are, I feel, the most TRUE and well-rounded teams in the league by far. (Although, I'm not a fan of Bogut's illegal screens either...)

But while many people have said this year's NBA has been tough to watch ... I'm very happy with the Playoffs. I think they have been wildly entertaining. So many upsets and so many hard-fought games. :eatit::)!

I like the new owner of the clippers, he's awesome, if the Grizz upset warriors and

James Harden with the ISO...

Travels on the pump-fake, then pushes off on Rivers to clear space on the step back jumper, makes it.

Celebrates with douchey "stirring the pot" hand gesture.

Clippers will come out with more urgency in game 6 I'm sure. Not their best game, but Houston did they play better than in games 1-4.

The entire Rockets team shot very well (50%+)

The Clippers had Redick(3-12), Crawford(2-10), Barnes(1-8) and Rivers(3-11) all shoot AWFULLY. Between those 4 guys, that's 9-41 ... eek.

Something tells me that this won't happen again, ESPECIALLY going back home to LA.

Expect the Clippers to absolutely obliterate the Rockets next game...

That was pretty awful. Lol.

As well as the and-1 call on Rivers where Harden wouldn't let Rivers get around him and then threw his ass into him as he shot the floater. That was so damn bogus. Harden was literally looking over his shoulder to see where he should throw his body.

They need to start calling it an offensive foul.

To be fair, CP3 does it too on the break. Will run in front of bigger players then slam on the breaks. That's a dangerous play and not a basketball play, they should start calling it an offensive foul.

Just as much as you have to give a shooter his space, that should apply in those cases to a defender simply trying to avoid contact.

good call with leaving howard in with 2 fouls (howard called to stay in the game). i love mchale as a coach and he has been great so far in coaching. i just hope dwight can keep it together a bit more coming later in the game.

James 'whistle' Harden ... already 9-9 FT in the first half with 5 minutes left.

Unreal. This guy would average 15ppg if it weren't for the bogus foul calls he always gets.

Refs did a great job of not falling for that flopping crap the last few games, and the Clippers won because they deserved to.

I love the "hack-a" rule.

Learn to shoot the ball. Too damn bad for the flow & fans.

Dwight has had 10 years to learn how to make a FT, and he still hasn't. He's just a big, tall, strong guy with very little basketball skill & talent. Just incredibly athletic and physically gifted.

Hack away!

If you're a defender even within a few feet of Harden, and play good defense on his initial move, he will throw his body into you. There's absolutely no defending a guy who gets away with an offensive foul on every play.

Interesting thing about this game is to see how little respect BG gets from the refs, and how Harden sits on a throne of flopping and push-offs.

LeBron and Durant kept him from the award last season. Anyone who doesn't think he's a complete player, has improved massively, and is a leader, obviously doesn't pay attention.

i think lebron got alot of calls in miami but im not seeing it in cleveland. i really dont like him chatting with the refs every chance he gets, it has gotten old. Harden is 10x worse than lebron with the calls he gets though, its complete bs. gotta give him some credit, the dude can knock down his free throws!

Clippers and warriors are both run n gun teams, I think clippers have the better bigs down low.

Curry vs Cp3 is an awesome matchup (sure cp3 wants revenge for his broken ankles compliments of MVP)

Could care less who wins that series but if I was a betting man I would go with the Clippers,
X-factor being Blake

The bigs I think are pretty even. Bogut vs Jordan, Blake vs Draymond. I think they match up evenly and its a toss up on who would win. Comes down to coaching I think. I would take CP3 over Steph as a floor general. I think that's the matchup that's the Xfractor.

not even close comparison. the boards, the assists, the moves, dunks, etc. there is no one playing at the level blake is right now. hes played 12 great games and only had 1 avg game which was on tuesday. he is the reason i have been dragging my butt at work in the morning, cannot turn these games off. warriros grizz series is a snoozefest compared to this. i cannot remember the last time i seen this many dunks and oops from one team.

You gotta understand Harden gets calls because he's an awkward goofy lefty. Trows off the refs and makes them blow the whistle.

Kobe Bryant loves Hardens game as mentioned in his latest "muse" documentary. Kobe said he would build a team around Harden when asked which young talent he would choose to build a team around.

I don't love the egos in that locker room and I can't stand Dwight Howard. Which is why I hope the clippers close this out tonight.

I would also like to say I can't stand Matt Barnes and Glen Davis gotta be the most out of shape NBA player since Tree Rollins.
