Should I put together this historic 72 card set? Obviously mikan would come last but i feel like its a worthwhile project and one for the ages! Any advice or insight? Thanks

It's a great set to put together but will be very costly to find them in good shape. I have a few if you decide to go that route

100% that's a very under appreciated set.

I think it would be a fun chase and a great set to own!

Do it but get the big ones first. That way if you decide to quit the set you don't have a bunch of commons you can't get rid of

Definitely.

In addition to have a collection the spans the ages; it is also a great way to learn about former players and expand your knowledge of the game. If you are anything like me, every time you collect a card of a player you do not have or know little about; it will have you researching up on them on-line.

My fried just put this set together after I bought a very big collection of them. I only had the low series, but they were very nice. Its a great set and more people should research these guys.. Most basketball collectors don't know more then 3 players in the set... its sad

buy the reprint set its cheap. own it a while then decide if you want to spend major bucks building a nice set.

If you already have the 57 Topps and 61 Fleer sets then definitely put this set together. If you do not have those sets, I would put them together first. Other then Mikan - none of the other players in the 48 Bowman set are household names. Yes, Fulks, Holzman, Pollard, Davies , Phillip, Risen and Jeannette are HOFers and Fulks and Holzman have historic importance but it does not have the same excitement factor of the first Topps or Fleer sets.

It's a fun project. I started it a while ago and bought a nice batch from one person. I'm probably close to completing it other than trying to pick up ones that are in better condition. Definitely worth it!

I've been chasing that set for 10 years now and I'm up to 70/72.
