So I sent my Gold ref Underwood in for replacement because it had the damage on the back bottom edge (normal for 14 BC). Topps just received my package May 26th so I figured I'd hear from them soon. I received my replacement yesterday in the mail and was very disappointed with what was sent. I talked to someone on the phone yesterday but because it was so late in the day he said he couldn't get ahold of their manager and said he would call back today. Anyways, here it is

whoa man that's quite the short. I had never heard of either player but see that the last Underwood sold for $69 while the last Brooks sold for $8! That's a rough hand to be dealt

Ridiculous. I received two Ryan Ripken base autos as replacements for my unfilled redemptions. Yay.

Funny thing is even though the Underwood was damaged, I had a 40$ offer on it. I would be lucky to get 10$ for the Brooks. Guess I'll see what Topps says when they call me back later today

Just got off the phone with Topps and according to the guy I spoke with on the phone he said that management said the Duane Underwood Gold has a 50$ book value and the Aaron Brooks they replaced it with has a book value of 80$ so they actually did me a favor. I explained to him that the Underwood sells for 80$ currently and the Brooks is under 10$ and he said they don't go buy the secondary market.


What can I do now?

I just emailed management and said what they sent me was unacceptable and if they can't send me a decent replacement to just send the Underwood back

Wait.. Ryan Ripken Base Autos? Thought those didn't exist and there was only color. If you have a base auto for sale let me know. I need a base Ripken (which before the moment I didn't think existed) and a base Manziel (doesn't exist as far as I know) to complete my draft base auto set.

Nevermind. I now see some on eBay. When did they get released? I have participated in probably 100+ case breaks, and watched many others - along with the case and a half I opened myself and have never seen one.

Did they use them to replace other autos that were never done like my Scouts Breakouts Tayron Guerrero that I am still waiting for?

I sent them a card to be replaced from this years Tribute. Arrived on May 11th and havent heard anything from them despite many emails and voicemails left. At least you've heard something. Best of luck OP.

yeah the hell if they don't. I have had several replacements where they talk about and use ebay sell value all the time.

I have been calling almost daily to Topps to find out what they were going to do about this, and yesterday I was told that management made the decision and this is the end of it. I asked to speak to a manager and was told there was no manager there, then was told that management does not come to the phone. After telling them that this is theft, and I was going anywhere till I spoke to a manager, I was told by Michelle (Topps employee) that she was going to hang up on me because she had other customers to attend to. I called back again and after being put on hold for several minutes was told that the manager was now out of her office.

Is there anything that I can do, or do I just need to accept getting 10% value on the card I sent in for replacement? This has got me so upset that I'm contemplating saying the hell with it and selling all my cardboard, and just going back to collecting autographed baseballs

Don't let Topps make you so mad that you quit collecting cardboard. Just stop opening their products! If you PC stuff, just buy what you like and PC. I think its pretty bad what they did you. I've been fleeced by Topps as well on redemptions. I just quit opening as much of their products. My collection has flourished after slowing down buying wax and buying singles. I wish I could quit busting wax completely but sometimes I just need to scratch that itch!

The first post is very upsetting that they offered a football card for a baseball card, when they specifically told me previously after they made a similar offer that they couldn't do the replacement because they only replace sport for sport.

Sadly, the second post is very consistent to my dealings with them over a 2 year Mike Trout redemption numbered out of 5.

Their customer service is the worst out of the major companies.

I am unfortunately finding this out. They honestly don't care about the customer at all
