The other subforums have these kind of threads and they are a lot of fun. I love looking at the individual collection threads, but it would be great to see what people pick as their favorite 5 licensed cards. I know there is a "show off" thread but that one is all over the place and seems more like a recent pickups thread. You can select them however you see fit; value, aesthetics, rarity, etc. Feel free to say why they are your favorites, that always makes it more interesting.
Rules:
They must be licensed cards, i.e DC, Marvel, Hobbit, GOT, Perna, etc. Do not have to be pack pulled, AR and AP's are fine.
You have to own them presently, no cards that were once owned by you.
Has to be the standard 2.5 x 3.5 inches, nothing oversized.
There must be ONLY 5 licensed sketch cards posted by each member. No autos, memorabilia, numbered, etc.
My collection is small so it will be easier for me to choose, but I imagine a lot of you will have tougher choices to make with bigger collections. That's what will make this thread fun to see! Also, just update your post if you pick up new ones that become your favorites.
Please remember the point of this thread is to make you choose, so only 5 :)!
Here are mine to start it off, in no particular order:
LOTR Masterpieces II Faramir: Portratz & Hai----I love this set and it is tough to find real quality pieces being so far from release date. This one really caught my eye, being from my favorite scene in the LOTR trilogy. Potratz/Hai are really great at bringing these characters to life.

Leaf Masterworks Pennywise/Tim Curry: Jim Kyle---This is the first one I bought and introduced me to the sketch card hobby. Jim Kyle did an amazing job and Tim Curry auto makes it extra special. His performance of Pennywise was legendary, making IT my favorite horror movie to date.

Batman the Legend AP Heath Ledger's Joker: Tim Shay--- Heath Ledger's performance of the Joker was a masterpiece. Tim did it justice with his amazing talents.

Batman the Legend Joker/Batman: Roy Cover--- This card reminds me of the inner struggle Bruce Wayne has of being the hero and the villain. As Joker would put it "all it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy".

Super Villains AR Joker/Batman: Melike Acar--- This is my newest pickup and it doesn't disappoint. Melike really captured the torment the Joker does to Batman and Gotham City. Her work is amazing to say the least.

I tried and I was counting, trying to narrow down, but I was at 7 and I knew there were a couple more. I'd have to get it from like 9 to 5. Maybe I'll try later lol. If it included pscs I'd be in trouble. I think there was a pick 5 awhile back and I posted like 20 lol.

I guess right now it would be these 5...but the rest all closely follow. Possibly even tie. I love them all, or else I wouldn't buy them. Lol.
However, I don't really have reasons why they are my faves. Lol. They just are.

I'm assuming you just meant they have to be official set cards, not licenced? Since you listed the Perna Studios sets and none of them are licensed properties, all public domain. Yes?

Yessir. Let's see yours!
Jordyne--Those are great! Thanks for sharing, the Jaberwocki one might still be my favorite. Who's the artist on that one?

A bit tough with the restrictions, but I'll give it a shot. Neither my personal favorite nor my most valuable sketch cards are standard size, and most of the ones with sentimental value are PSCs...
1. Tony & Elaine Perna jam from UDE Iron Man 2 movie. It's the only card they teamed up on for the set, and I was lucky enough to pull it out of a cheapie single box I haggled down from a dealer at the Philly NSCS. That box also had a sketch by Daredevil artist David Mack.
http://www.sketchcollectors.com/gallery/Spider-Fan/1380236391.jpg
2. Gwen Stacy by Mike Miller from UDE Marvel Beginnings I. My first sketch card and what started the addiction. I bought a couple cheap 90s MU boxes one winter to relive my childhood. Then I noticed they were still making Marvel Comic trading cards. Who knew? So I bought a box and pulled this. I was floored that these things contained hand drawn cards. I guess it helped that I hit a good one. Maybe it's not top of the line, but a solid sketch of a character that I liked. The rest is history.
http://www.sketchcollectors.com/gallery/Spider-Fan/1349228915.jpg
3. Domino pencil sketch by Sara Richard from UDE Marvel Beginnings II. I post this one a lot when people complain about pencil sketches, because this one is all pencil but is still excellent quality. People (especially the art directors at trading card companies) need to find a better way to explain they want quality sketches without insisting every card gets colored. In a world of generic marker sketches, this one really stands out to me.
http://www.sketchcollectors.com/gallery/Spider-Fan/1351786184.jpg
4. Voodoo AP by Amber Shelton from Perna Studios Spellcasters. This was my favorite set (very excited they are doing a sequal, but the original will always be my number one) and this is my favorite sketch from it. I was only alotted 3 packs, so most of my collection is APs. The light effects on this one blew me away, and I've been commissioning her APs pretty regularly ever since (and have not been disappointed).
http://www.sketchcollectors.com/gallery/Spider-Fan/1374946488.jpg
5. Spider-Man by Marc 'Vo' Nguyen from RA Marvel Greatest Heroes. Well... it's not valuable from a sentimental or monetary perspective, but I do really like it :) I could have picked any one of several dozen cards to fill this slot or the previous two. Hard to choose when there are so many I enjoy so much.

Here are my top 5 (although I probably have like 50 top 5's) ... The first 3 of which I posted in the "Show Off Your Favorite Sketch Cards" thread also on this forum.
Natasa Kourti Marvel Beginnings 3 AP of Peter Parker and Mary Jane

Skottie Young Marvel Masterpieces 2 sketch card of Dead Girl (from X-Force)

Jeff Matsuda Marvel Masterpieces 3 sketch card Wolverine vs. Hulk homage to the classic McFarlane cover.

Jim Mahfood Marvel Masterpieces 3 sketch card of Ghost Rider

Aya Kakeda Star Wars Galaxy 6 diecut sketch card of Chewbacca (on Akbar head card shape):

My most favorite cards are artist commissions, puzzles and 5x7's so, I stuck with my top 5 favorite cards that I personally pulled.
1. Gavin Hunt - Once Bitten. For uniqueness, actually one of my favorite cards out of all the cards I have. When I first pulled it I scratched my head for a minute until I figured it out.
2. Women of Legend - I need more Samantha Johnson cards in my collection.
3. Chris Henderson / Oncology Charity. My best pull of any non-major/generic sketches. No JJ, he is not for sale!!! :)
4. Cherry - Larry Welz. The colors get me.
5. Black Widow. I pulled this and sold it. I regretted it immediately. I regretted it for 3 years until the buyer put his cards up for sale and I bought it back. I will not make that mistake again.

It's my favorite too, that one wasn't hard to narrow down. It's Alexis Sarah Hill. I have an AP coming from her too! This one is still my fave tho!

Always hard to pick 5 but I'll give it a try...
5) This was the first one I ever got in a box/pack and started my collection. A pretty large percentage of my PC is still by Katie Cook...
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k309/kneepain/Sketch%20Cards/Katie%20Cook/sketch11_zps149efaec.jpeg (http://s91.photobucket.com/user/kneepain/media/Sketch%20Cards/Katie%20Cook/sketch11_zps149efaec.jpeg.html)
4) I also took a liking to the work of Renae de Liz whom is likely retired from card sets. Her run was too short and complicated by an overcommitment to commissions that took years for her to fulfill and burned many of her loyal fans...
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k309/kneepain/Sketch%20Cards/Renae%20De%20Liz/artistsketch8_zps0c638f39.jpeg (http://s91.photobucket.com/user/kneepain/media/Sketch%20Cards/Renae%20De%20Liz/artistsketch8_zps0c638f39.jpeg.html)
3) A more recent acquisition from a set years too late... but a cute sketch from one of my favorite artists, Mark McHaley, depicting one of the best X-Files episodes of all time!
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k309/kneepain/oct2014%202_zpsausmgl91.jpeg (http://s91.photobucket.com/user/kneepain/media/oct2014%202_zpsausmgl91.jpeg.html)
2) This next one is from artist Will Nichol who I don't think is well known in the sketch card world... however, I saw his previews from the Batman legend set and just had to have an AP... I ended up buying all of his!
http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k309/kneepain/Batman%20Legend%20Will%20Nichols%20Harley_zpsnsf2oexl.jpg (http://s91.photobucket.com/user/kneepain/media/Batman%20Legend%20Will%20Nichols%20Harley_zpsnsf2oexl.jpg.html)
1) And finally, maybe not really my favorite but my newest acquisition and time will tell if it remains top of my list! Just amazing work from Melike Acar... Nice to see an AP from this set earlier in the thread!

^^^Some FANTASTIC pieces above!! ...even see a Marvel sketch I pack-pulled... glad it made it to a good home :D
We did this right at a year ago here for personal top-10s but let's run it again! :)!
Could easily do top-5 for pack-pulled, artist proof/commission, traded for, and purchase but will try to just narrow down to favorite non-commission/AP :D -->
1) Kree vs. Fantastic Four by Melike Acar, Kree-Skrull War
Pull this at Christmas a few years ago... yeah was a happy day :flex:
http://i.imgur.com/ryHzRQ5l.jpg
2) Black Cat & Spider-Woman by Anthony Tan, Women of Marvel II
Fell hard for Anthony Tan's work as soon as I saw it pop up on eBay when X-Men Archives came out. Sold a few pieces when prices were really high and had been looking for something that caught my eye to fill that void again... sniped this at a midnight sale as soon as I saw it :D
http://i.imgur.com/7Ordc7cl.jpg
3) Wolverine vs. Sabretooth by Adam Cline, Greatest Battles
Always wanted an Adam Cline piece but could never find a piece I liked for it's price. Got this somewhat recently during a eBay buck promotion.
http://i.imgur.com/uYdrUeyl.jpg
4 & 5) She-Hulk by Neal Adams and Yuriko Shirou, Marvel Premier 2/Dangerous Divas 2
Always looking for industry artist pieces that catch my eye... yeah doesn't get better than Neal Adams and She-Hulk fits perfectly with a mini-collection I seem to be developing.
Shirou caught my eye similar to Tan back in the day when I saw pieces pop on eBay. Missed out on a ton of auctions because I wasn't expecting the auctions to explode like they did. However, was able to snatch this She-Hulk that I loved off a website... always liked brick backgrounds for some reason too, lol. :D
