Who would you pick to pitch for you in the postseason?

They both have sub 3 era's in the postseason

Mad Bum: 77 K's 7 Wins
Lester: 73 K's 6 Wins

Both have been in the same number of games also.

Mad Bum of course. He single handedly beat the Royals last year in the World Series

Mad. Bum. It will be a long time before we see a pitching performance like that again.

Except it happened the year prior with Lester. He was Beckett-esque in the 2013 playoffs.

I'll take Lester...as long as he doesn't have to throw to first. ;)

Bumgarner with 2.14 ERA and 17 bb to 77 k's, including 2 complete game shutouts and 5 inning relief appearance

Jon Lester with 2.57 ERA and 23 bb to 73 k's, has gone past 7 innings 4 starts including last season. Has not yet completed 8 innings in a start

Not really that close. Lester had a normal 2.35 ERA against Tampa Bay, 2.31 ERA against Detroit and then went legendary 2-0 with a 0.59 ERA in the World Series. Only one start where he didn't give up a run, Bumgarner allowed 0 runs in 3 of the 6 starts not including the Game 7 relief appearance.

Lester allowed 25 hits and 8 walks in 34 innings
Bumgarner had 28 hits and 6 walks in 52 innings

Madbum without a doubt! When his career is over he may be the best post season pitcher of all time!

As a Cubs fan no way that I would take Lester. He hasn't been what we "thought" he might be for us. Gave up 4 runs today to Detroit and threw around 90 pitches into the 5th. Seems like hitters no him too well and can line up his pitches and rock him.

You're right he pitched fantastic in May and has been good for the most part. I'll be honest I'm just pretty irritated by how he pitched today 4.1 innings, 9 hits, 5 earned runs and 2 walks.

Not gonna lie today pissed me off. Serving up pitches to miggy, wasn't pretty.

Postseason id say Bumgarner, these years the Giants have been in the playoffs, hes shown what he can do, and does well when it matters most

Okay but realisticly Miggy owns Lester. It was bound to happen today 12 for 23 off of Lester. He's walked him seven times and only struck him out twice, Gose's robbed homer off of Ross also wasn't pleasing...

LOL, I wouldn't go that far

Kershaw or Mad Bum would be better. Lester is older, mad bum is right in his prime. I know OP was gearing for postseason experience, but after last year how can you possible pick anyone else.

Exactly, how could anyone pick Kershaw in the post season? Give me 10 other pitchers in the post season before him...
