Your first link isn't working, but in regards to the second one - did you see who the seller is?
Here's one of the top bidders:
30-Day Summary
Total bids: 28
Items bid on: 11
Bid activity (%) with this seller: 42%
But, generally speaking, yes there has been a huge spike in those. Why? I'm not sure. Just one of those wacky eBay trends going on...
Duncan 97-98 goes for $500+, yet Dirk 98-99 only goes around $50-60?!

Thank you Paul, the first link is fixed.
Yes, I don't know why the 98 Dirk Topps Chrome Refractor is selling for so little, Dirk is probably the third best forward in the same era:
1 - Duncan
2 - KG
3 - Dirk

Glad I picked up one two years ago. Would love to grab another but I am thinking the prices may drop.

Prices are already dropping on the regular Topps Chrome.

i dont know what the refractors were going for at the time, i know at the time this topps chrome was possibly the most expensive/high-end product there was, and i remember it was like $7 a pack and there was only 4 cards. i think i pulled 2 tim duncan rookies and i traded one right back to the owner for like 9 more packs which i think i remember as being $63. thats a lot more than a regular one goes for now, but that refractor is probably triple or more what it originally went for. i just sold my second one after he won the title last year.

I think a large part is it's very hard to buy Duncan autos compared to Dirk autos so people spent their money on other Duncan stuff like rare rookies. Just a guess however.

PSA10 Timmy's Topps Chrome Refractor used to sell for $1000 a few months ago, but there was one sold for $1700+ by PWCC before Spurs went out of the Playoff, and then these cards suddenly bumped up to an another price range. People thought Spurs could win another title and that was why these Timmy cards got pushed up so much. I believe these cards will eventually back to $1000 range after the Playoff.

People thinking he's about to retire, trying to make money off of the cards.

Duncan is going for about $1200 for psa 10 refractor. Dirk's PSA 10 refractor is unknown, there is only 4 exists none ever pop on eBay

I bid on the 2nd one because it looked really well centered and possible high grade card, but I left after $575. The first one was just too off centered for me.

That one was so "centered" and I was wondering why it hasn't been graded. In fact, there was an another one asking for $400 or best offer on eBay a few weeks ago, and that one was also looked pretty well centered, fortunately, the seller was very honest and he declared that the card was trimmed. I hope the one just sold over $600 wasn't the same one.

These Duncans are going crazy. I picked up my BGS 9 Refractor for $299 a little over a year ago...nuts

Were those in the $50-75 range just a few years ago?
I don't follow Duncan cards (as a Spurs' diehard that is strange), but remember his rookies always selling rather low.

I am one of those people who looked to buy a few months ago. My hayday of collecting was the 97-98 season and I had easily 40 Duncans, multiple refractors, I bought out Southeastern Wisconsin on the product (sorta)
Wanted a little piece of my childhood back and wanted a PSA 10 REF, figured it would be $200-$250. Clearly, I hadn't looked at those prices in a long, long, long while!

I wanna cry.. I bought the Duncan rc ref. For 12 when I was a kid. Some guy had a card sale in front of his house and it was the only card I had enough money for. I literally don't know what I did with it. I've been going through all my old boxes and I think I traded it. F my life I have no luck.

This just goes to show you how out of touch Beckett is with the market. They still have this card worth $150.00 in the price guide which is laughable. That is a major insult to a first ballot Hall of famer.
And price gougers on ebay that try to jack up prices through the roof don't help as well
