Trying to judge the interest in Marvel Masterpieces series 2. I really liked the series one. Bought a few boxes, completed the entire set and all inserts/parallels. I figured series 2 would pretty much be the same so that concerned me number one. There is no limit on production and there will be hobby and retail release, concern number 2. There will not be any parallels this time, concern number three. If I heard correctly from other people on this board like Ted, there will be only a handfull of artists doing sketches, concern number four. I don't know exactly who the artists are but if it is like the Indy stuff where every other patch was that damn monkey that took three minutes to make I will not be happy.
I originally was going to split a case with a friend of mine but it seems like I could buy two maybe three boxes, get most of the inserts and just buy the rest.
Any input from the non-sport guys out there would be appreciated.

There seems to be some confusion on this set. The 2007 MM had 13,000 boxes and from what I've heard this set could have 38,000 boxes, and then yet another Marvel Masterpieces set coming out in December. Upper Deck only has the License for Marvel cards until Dec.31 and appear to be cranking the presses to make as much $$$ as possible. For the last set they had a huge list of artists and no artis did more than 254 sketches but for this one nobody knows how many artists are on the set yet but several are doing pver 1000 and at least 1 is doing over 2000 sketches. I mighe get 1-3 boxes to check it out and try my luck but I'm sure not going to be trying my luck on cases. Just my 2 cents.

Well, they numbered the boxes out of 18,000. The only question is if that includes the retail release. I can't believe that it would so your number of 38,000 may be close. I just wonder what the ratio for sketch cards will be in retail. It is usually harder to pull the good stuff since the packs are cheaper at Target than at the local shop.

If I could get a couple retail boxes dirt cheap I would open them just to find out. But I will probably stay away for now.
I just saw a Sell sheet for the Masterpieces 3. Looks like your gonna get Writers Auto's this time. Also looks like a few more subsets and chase cards.

Well, We just ripped 2 boxes. You get a sketch and Fantastic 4 costume per. According to UD CS, retail will not have Sketch when I talked to them on friday.
Retail will have 2 different Hulk and Iron Man die cuts only in retail
Breakdown good, 4 sets, 2 box toppers(jumbo this yr) there are 2 different insert sets #ed to 9. Finished 1 of ea with extras, both diecuts were found in each box. 2 Dr Doom costumes in first box both RED Satin and Human Torch in other (note, doom has mutli variants) Sketchs, 1 nice Psylocke and the other was a Lame Black Panther (looked more like Vision)
